Android head unit, great alternative

Mine is going in to an '00 Tacoma. I shouldn't need a faceplate. Sorry I'm no help.

 

Wow, I had no idea that android head units were a thing.

Definitely interested in one of these now.

I have a Kenwood touch screen head unit with GPS now, so I don't really NEED one of these though.

Also, are there any android ones that have the cd/DVD? I actually still listen to my old cd's and I have used the DVD player before (something to do when it's cold as hell and late at night on a camping trip).

 

I'm waiting for new state of the art models.,,, should be out in March or April no radio for now

Yes, they have FM tuners. My tuner works, but that's it. It's very weak compared to the stock Entune unit. If you install the HU, before you button everything back up, play with the antenna cable that goes into the HU. I found that if I twisted my cable as I was pushing it in the HU, my reception improved over just pushing it in as I did before. I had crappy reception, I removed my HU and pulled the antenna cable out. Reseated it, but used more force and it seemed to go in a little farther. My reception is better now, not great, but better than before.

Anybody know if you need a radio antenna adaptor for my 2008 Taco? I'm installing the latest Joying 5.1.1 Lolipop Android Head unit as shown in the link?

just ordered one, My 2011 has 2 unused ports under the climate control. anyone use these for the usb's from the head unit?

in the cab, thx, trying to get everything ready for the joying unit when it arrives. wondering if I need to install the Bluetooth mic, I already have one but joying says won't work with theirs.

 

Where are y'all powering your cameras off of?
I have mine connected to the driver's side reverse light but am only seeing ~10V from it ... most of these run on 12V, right?

2011 non jbl, that's what I used, plug n play.

 

Hmmm, I guess I'm still not understanding completely. That harness doesn't look like it matches anything I have on the back of mine. Here is a picture for reference. Having the JBL audio is making this confusing and joying has no clear answers for my vehicle year.
