I took your advice this weekend and drove this trail with a friend. He has a 4x4 Nissan Frontier. It was fun and not too tough. You could definetely drive it with a Prerunner if you enter from Upper Big Tujunga Rd. and exit onto Angeles Forrest Hwy. There is one steep area with sand and gravel you would need 4x4 to get up, but if you enter from Upper Big Tujunga rd. you will be going down this steep area (like we did).

I took a camera phone pic from the back of my friends truck looking up at the hill at my truck. This pic doesn't do it much justice, its hard to determine how steep it is from this pic. I had a hard time hiking back up to my truck after taking the pic.

There are about 4 or 5 water crossings, water was about 1 ft. deep, one crossing the water hole was longer than my truck (and it hasn't rained in months). This trail would be a lot of fun after some rain / mud.

There are a lot of "forks in the road" we ended up exiting on Angeles forrest hwy somewhere north of the campground and about a mile south of the top of the hill. The only scratching we had was on the fork we took which put me out on Angeles forrest hwy. Brush was overgrown just before we exited on the hwy. Nothing too bad, just looks bad on a dusty truck. But, this section had some fun water crossings.

We did see the signs saying that Mt Gleason and Pacifico were open. Maybe one day we can to this trail and Pacifico. This lynx gulch trail only took 1hr 15 mins.

Hit up Angeles forest again this weekend, this time took Santa Clara Divide road 3n17 all the way to Angeles Forest Highway. Pretty good run about 30 miles or so, went a little off trail a few times, doing some of the bypasses and ended up finding a Ford F250 that got stuck, tried to get him out but no luck cause this guy had some shitty little strap that was so short and the hill was too steep ..

Guess what they say about Fords is true. LoL

Probably hit up the other half of 3n17 next week, from Mill Creek Summit to Mt Pacifico

skip the 3n17 and do the trails that go into the canyons. like moody, and bpl road, indian canyon, etc... alot more exciting. 3n17 is like half concrete and dirt.

Yeah I hear ya, last time I was up there I did Indian Canyon and a dude on a Quad almost ran in to me cause its kinda narrow and that trail gets alot traffic from Quads, and Dirt Bikes

I wanted to do this other trail right before you hit the prison camp, it think its 4n24 . It runs the same direction as Indian Canyon, but you end up on Aliso Canyon

Well, now the Angeles Forrest is all burned up. Fire had spread from La Canada all the way to Acton on the north side.

That's some s#it there. I was working the ramp (terminal side) at Long Beach Airport last night and I could see flare ups clear as day. Hope for the best and most importantly that everyone stays safe.
