I'm really sorry for the sudden loss of your baby Timmer. Sounds like your little friend was a really amazing cat! Sometimes the really special ones come along, and there can never be another like them ever.

Without tagging every post, what a bunch of beautiful animal friends. Tacoma people sure have huge hearts for their pets. This thread is very fullfilling. Its also great to be there for each other in times of loss.......

Timmer, your words rang out with pain and I feel ya bro. Sorry for the loss.....I buried a great companion this past year myself. We will definately have some great memories to last a lifetime!

I currently have about 11 newborn desert Turtles (I don't have pictures right now), they were all born here in my backyard, we have about 6 or 7 adult ones, they are all hibernating right now. We care for them a lot..

This was Torcuata, another kind of turtle, past away about 3-4 years ago, my parents found it in '76 wondering on a street, they took her home, she was with our family for about 28 years, we never knew her real age my guess is she was as old as 40yrs old...

It was amazing, you could rub her face with your finger and she didn't even closed her eyelids, never bit us, and when we went out to the backyard she came out of her hole and start following one of us (she wanted the food)

Ed, sorry about Torcuata passing. The exact reason why I decided not to put the word 'furry' in my post above, our 'friends' come with shells, feathers and so on......

Are you raising the dessert turtles, or is this common in Mexico for them to just be living in your back yard...........sorry, I'm ignorante about alotta stuff...can't help being redneck...

Ed we got turtles down here in central Florida that look a lot like those. They're protected, law says you can't touch them no matter what they're doing. I hear if they really wanna be rectal projectiles about it the wildlife cops can arrest you for helping one of them turtles out of the street. Having one as a pet would probably be a bad idea (but it would be kinda cool, they're pretty low maintenance and live forever).

Yes we raise them, and they are the queens of the backyard LOL, the adult ones were given to us by different people, because we had the torcuata, and some folk cataloged us as turtle people LOL... The young ones have come over the years, last year we had about 5 new, some years none, as soon as they are born we put them in a special part of the backyard where the cats cant get to them....

Oh yea man, i bet they are protected here in Mexico by now, but at the time my parents got it i don't think there was any law against it, besides, people can be very stupid and ran over them with their cars or fall into the hands of a bad kid....

LMAO, yes as a kid there was a time when we almost had a farm on our backyard, the dog, turtle, we had too chickens that turned out to be rooster, a duck, and one time my father bring home a nanny goat, my poor mother had to feed the goat at 3am coz it wont stop making noises and the neighbors started to complaint.... we had to give them all away to a Childrens Foster home which had a farm....
