All I wanted to do was get a quick mtn-bike ride in to burn some calories before a bbq party.

Well I crashed while brushing a wasp away from my face. It was instantaneous.

I’m laying there bleeding and some bike riders ride right by me! Haha. I was to much in pain to come up with something witty to say.

One guy stopped, helped me to my feet checked my bike for me and pointed me down the hill. It was a tough ride down. Some other guy helped me load up my bike on my truck and I drive about 15mph all the way home. People honking at me.

Wife took one look and took me to the ER
CT scan, X-rays and wound care.

I’m good. Small fracture in knee cap. And it is strawberry season on my body. No concussion.

My helmet flat out saved the quality of the life I have remaining. It is crushed in the front right.

I’ll heal. I’m buying the same exact helmet and I’m adding ran gaurds. And I’m digging out my knee pads. All the gear, all the time from now on.

What trail did you wipe out on? I broke my knee cap there a few years ago.

I was taking the easiest route up. Canyon! It’s the only trail I’d even let go of the bar with one hand.

Ive had enough stupid falls there that i always wear knee pads. Im a fan of the minimalist fox trail pads. Heal fast and i hope to see you back out on the trails soon!

Must have been something in the air. I wiped out on Rough Go yesterday evening. Fortunately just bruised and scraped up with a bent rear rotor. Hope you heal up fast!

Glad your okay. It's always the easy stuff that gets you. The only time I crash nowadays is because I'm going too slow.

It's good to hear people stopped to help. I've been mountain biking since the early 90's. Lately I feel like less people ask if you need assistance. I had a bad crash a few years ago and some assholes yelled at me for laying in the trail. I had a zygomaxillary complex...broke my cheekbone at all three locations that hold it onto your skull, rotated it a couple degrees and moved it downward a couple mm also broke my upper jaw, orbital bone, pretty bad concussion and broke my 5th metacarpal on my left hand in 4 places. Dude didn't even stopo to ask if I was okay, just yelled at me for being in the trial and kept going.

I bought a Husqvarna 701 Enduro 3 weeks ago to start doing off-road trips on that. Crashed it on a trail last Friday and broke my foot. Rode all the way home with a broken foot, then went to the E.R. 8 weeks on crutches now.

No damage. There was a dried up sheet of my skin on the handlebars. And I need to rethink my bell mounting position. It could have “ice cream scooped” my thigh. I got lucky as hell.
