How so? I have time and place posted, up to you guys to show up ;)
I plan on doing a bit better with a short info session at the staging area to discuss day layout and basic safety and rules on the trail, not as a buzzkill but as a basic coordination

Hey man when we did the ATOM (Arizona Tacoma Owners Mob) we did a waiver form. Not sure if you'd find it useful but it's up to you. I can PM it if you wish.

Back!! I had to buy new goggles up there because my old one kept fogging up and getting moist inside. It was horrible. Did a couple runs without goggles and threw in the white flag for a new one. $95 for fukin Oakleys. Damn Meadows...

Hey all, since I'm out on this business trip I'm a bit out of touch on local updates. Looks like there's been some interesting weather. I can only do so much from where I'm at, so hoping you all keep tabs on what conditions are like. Anything that happens in town is going to be an order of magnitude greater up at TSF. If it gets to be too much we might have to change plans.

According to my Google search skills. The Browns Camp staging area is in or near Gales Creek, OR. According to accuweather.com, the forecast is sunny with a high of 47. Hopefully it does not snow too much, as that would probably not be a high enough temperature to thaw out any heavy snow build up. Has anyone heard about conditions?

I checked the TSF trail report for the BC area and it is still the same, all trails but one are open. Some are periodically closed for timber sale activity but that won't affect ALL of them at once I would not think.

    Thoughts? :mudding:

The trail report only covers maintenance, timber, and erosion. For a better report I actually scout the offroad forums and YouTube.

Given that our experience varies, there's no winches and a general lack of recovery gear, and just how slickness can effect the best of us, I want to be cautious and play it by ear

I sent an email to the guy listed on the TSF website as the one to contact for updates. We'll see if he gets back to me in a timely fashion. I really hope it works out in our favor!

Wow, definitely great to hear from someone helpful when it comes to this kind of stuff. Jahmaal with TSF OHV got back to me within 30 minutes of me sending him an email.

Just wanted to add, if you guys want trail information, you should definitely contact Jahmaal with TSF in the Forest Grove office. He shared with me that he is a Toyota guy. He runs an 85 4Runner and an 88 Ext Cab Toy and seems like a guy who would be a great one to run into on the trail (not physically of course, I would imagine he's protective of his 85 :) )

"Lee, There is a fair bit of active logging in the brows camp area. Most of the action is up top around Seven Cedars Rd. There are no trail closures that I am aware of. Sometimes they will close a section when they are in the immediate vicinity but they do not work on weekends. Trails that may be impacted are: Upper Firebreak 5, Airplane Hill, Saddle Up, 7-Up, and Hogs Back. These trails should all be open as written in the logging contract but things come up and sometimes trails get closed for safety reasons. As for the snow level I’ve heard that there could be up to a foot or more at the higher elevations. The snow level has been around 1000’ and a has been pretty steady this week. The main haul routes do get bladed for log haul. Thanks for inquiring before you go out I wish everyone did some research before heading out. If you come across anything that needs to be addressed please don’t hesitate to shoot me an e-mail. I would like to also mention that we have a active trail adoption program that gives clubs or groups the opportunity to play an active role in management of the trail system. If you guys are interested I can forward some documents. Be safe when wheeling, use tree straps and please pack out what you pack in. Thanks."

I was unaware that the staging area is already at an elevation of 1500 feet and it just climbs from there for the most part. I now understand the concern. Please keep me updated. That would be annoying if we can't go this weekend but I understand and definitely would rather be safe than sorry.

Great research YZF. I did not even think about the snow, even tho my pops is in Timber. He is at 1000 feet, and the snow he had has melted off. Looks like we will definitely see some white stuff.

I can't wait! Got my OHV permit yesterday. Should I wash the truck first??? :D

Nontypical, do you want me to bring the headlights? They are boxed up and packed well.

    See y'all!
