35,000 miles. 4wd. 3rd owner, got it from Massachussetts down to VA. clean carfax, he says. fresh paint, assume he means on frame. Says he will take $12,500 is his lowest.

Thanks in advance for assistance. Looking for the long-term in a tacoma

If it's from Mass. I'd check the frame. It looks like it was painted.

I think that's steep for a base model standard cab...and need more details on the "fresh paint".

get the vin and check on Toyota owners website, it may tell you about the frame like if it was replaced.

3 Owners and only 35,000 miles? What were they doing....buying it and just parking it? I agree with everyone else....check the frame. "Fresh paint" and 35K just don't jive.

Low milage isn't always the best buy. I got burned once buying a low milage older truck and most of the rubber, hoses, gaskets etc. started to deteriorate due to lack of use and lubrication.

    huh?

    https://www.kbb.com/toyota/tacoma-r...20481|false|6320483|true|6320485|false#survey

Probably not an exact match to this truck, but this is listed as 6200 max for my area (CA) assuming it's in really good condition.

Even accounting for the fact that KBB is not that great at knowing the true cost of Tacomas and generally undervalues them, your guy is asking 2x this.

Seems pretty damn high to me. My 2004 4x4 TRD doublecab is "worth" like $8-10k.

Forget the mileage, would you pay $12,500 for a 2001 regular cab from Mass? I sure wouldn't.

It's more a function of age, than mileage that deteriorate the rubber parts. ALL the same maintenance is required for a low mile truck. Main difference is just that the interior is likely in better shape.

Even at 35k, the timing belt is overdue since the TB's are due at 90k miles OR 9 years.

4cylinder though I would think so no belt!. if its a v6 i would be buying it! But yeah i think im getting the picture now from everyone. I shouldnt bite, rather get a higher mile one for lower cost that seems reasonable frame and running wise.

For me to pay top dollar for an older vehicle it needs to be mint and close to OEM as possible.

Ask him what's up with the front end - looks like he put a chrome bumper on there. Previously crashed and not reported? At first I thought the grill was painted but since that's the only chrome on the truck I'd want to know why it was replaced.

Or it might be a new rear bumper, could be wrong but I've never seen them mismatched from the factory.

yeah, I just meant that the V6 timing belt is just a good example of parts that need to be replaced regardless of mileage, but time.

4cyls have lifetime chains, not belts.

As was said earlier, anything rubber is just as bad off now as if it had 150k miles on it.

With only 35k miles, that's not a lot of miles to get exposed to the road salts, which is the main destroyer of frames.

The frame should be in pretty decent shape unless it was parked in the tidal zone, lol.

    But I still wouldn't pay $12k for a 4cyl single cab...
