Can anyone confirm for me that they have used Revemoto to swap out their 2nd gen stock ‘flat’ hood with a TRD ‘scoop’ hood…?

After many emails and infoe exchanged with Revemoto I am not feeling confident that (1) they have the correct hood for my2009 SR5 and (2) that it’s going to get shipped/delivered from Texas to Massachusetts without getting damaged…

Local Toyota dealer was less than helpful in giving me original part numbers, he was insisting that I pull my truck in for a“maintenance evaluation” before he would help me out with part numbers…. Eventually pointing me to Toyota partsdirect to get the info Revemoto wanted.

Using my VIN (pic attached) and the sticker located on the drivers side door jamb (pic attached) Ithink I have been able to confirm the original hood’s part #(53301-04120) as well as the part # (53301-04150) which isthe TRD hood w/ scoop.

But Revemoto won’t confirm what they have will fit correctly as they don’t offer it as a ‘conversion kit’ for 2gen’s (they do offer a 3rdgen ‘conversion kit’ though).

i just don’t want to make a $1500.- mistake and have toexplain it to the wife…

This is what I’ve been able to get from Toyota parts direct:
Toyota Part #: (53301-04120)standard hood replaced by theTRD Hood w/ Scoop Opening # (53301-04150). Hood ScoopInsert (76181-35050-C1) Black is OEM Factory for $272.00.

I know, I know - long winded and talked about in a few other threads but it’s hard to weed out the BS….

Thanks to anyone that can confirm they’ve used Revemotofor this specific part upgrade!!

@Geeves77 yeah, the $272.- was from revemoto painted black… so they marked it up by $140.- for finish paint and for sourcing it for me.

not getting any more comfortable in possibly using them

Not sure it would be right to upload the revemoto quote that they sent me, but the costs were:
    $1146.- hood painted MGM (1G3)
    $272.- scoop insert painted black
“Free shipping” (thats my other worry)….,

    Copied from the other thread.....

I agree doing the hood conversation is kind of an uphill battle

    Hood w/Scoop 53301-04150 is correct
Scoop insert 76181-35050-C1 is the one I purchased. Shiny Black finish
    Guide Air Intake 76182-03050
    Protector Hood Bulge - 76183-12030 -
    Scoop Nuts x5 - 90080-17210
    Hood Rivet x3 - 90269-04054

That should be all you need as far as the things you can't salvage from the other hood - Hinges, bolts, stoppers, etc...

so Revemoto ??? why pay that high price? my hood is just under $400 (OEM from Toyota) and getting it painted is under $400 (shop across town)

Revemoto quoted me $1577....I'd be willing to pay something like $900 for their service i think but not $1600

    That said ....

I ordered my scooped hood paid in full on May 31st 2023. They're recently told me to expect it around Dec 26th 2023.

Revemoto website shows they're only selling the aftermarket hoods so the price is cheaper but I have my doubt about aftermarket.

I recently fixed my wreck tacoma I used mostly OEM but some aftermarket parts. It only saved me $500 dollars and I wonder if it was worth it considering the fit of things....of course I can't say that all OEM would have fit any better but I did have things not line up on aftermarket parts like the hood latch, front end apron and bumper bar.

    Good luck!
