Another AC Compressor Noise Thread - 3rd Gen "Clacking"

Well the first guy kept saying he did not hear anything while I heard it easily. ( I can tell he was not in the mood to deal with me as I specially asked to talk to the tech before hand. Then the service manager came over was about to tell me nothing to worry about then it kicked on on got loud and he said now that’s not normal. Then he put the truck on the lift and did the screwdriver to the ear while touching the compressor and immediately said we need to replace it. So make sure you sit long enough in the car and take him to a quiet area in the lot. The longer you sit the louder it gets. Hope this helps my new one should be in on Thursday. I will report back on the outcome.

I'm going in for my service appointment tomorrow morning.

 

Well they are telling me now they won’t have a new compressor until June 13th. It had been ordered directly from the manufacturer. So I will be away and won’t be able to get it done until the end of June.... Good luck with your appointment make sure you post on what’s happens.

 

Having this issue as well at 19500 sprayed some water on the ac compressor pulley and sound went way (truck was idling with the ac off) just to verify that was the noise.... going to set up service to check this out soon. Will post a video when I can of sound
