Wow, people really need to learn how to bloody drive. If you saw my previous thread, some guy backed into my parked car, causing $1300 in damage. I just got the truck back from the shop 3 days ago. I come out to my truck this morning, all shined up and such from the shop, looking all good, then I see something. A huge rash on my passenger side front bumper. About 5 inches wide by about 9 inches long. Someone scrubbed past my bumper and drove the hell off.:mad::mad:
I take such good care of this truck, I don't even lean against it in fear of micro scratches, but what's the point? Everyone else treats it like a piece of snot. Door dings everywhere, crushed my rear bumper, now my front bumper all damaged. I'm so frustrated.
So I wiped away most of the rash, a lot of it being residue, leaving me with about 6 points that are scrubbed down pretty deep. I will take pictures tonight. It feels like our front bumpers/fenders are plastic if I'm not mistaken. Long story short, how do I fix this myself? There was no note left this time, so looks like I'm flipping the damn bill. Please help!!!:mad:

Sorry to read this. I get nervous parking in a lot. I have seen what people do.
Was at the hospital parking garage the other day, saw a person drive into a spot that was way to small, grazing off of someones bumper.
Had other things on my mind that day than to play citizen-cop.

Yeah I park way far out on purpose too, doesnt seem to be helping. yeah I'm beyond upset. It's not even a year old and it's getting smashed up! Ugh, so annoying. You pay $30,000 for a nice set of wheels, for what? People to not give a fuck about your stuff? Is plastic easier to touch up and paint? I haven't done any body work so im kind of a newb with it.
I think it happened last night at a comic shop where a bunch of folk meet every weekend. I'm going to keep my eye open there for someone who looks like they traded their paint with a Black vehicle. I'll mask up and kick it in so bad he won't be able to drive it.
Suggestions to fix it for cheap?

First, I drove my truck for a year without a single dent, scuff, scratch, nothing. I parked one night in front of the grocery store, in the spots up front by the storefront just for the sole purpose of I could park my passenger side right up against the curb of the island that separates the parking space from the "road" of the parking lot. It was probably 5 feet between my driver side and the painted line that separated my spot and the one next to me.

3 hours later, I walk back to my truck to leave and there's a 4" scuff and metal crease from a shopping cart slamming into my drivers side rear bed panel.

Pissed me off to no end that I go out of my way, and some shitty person devoid of morals and ethics lets their cart hit my car and then doesn't say anything, doesn't leave a note, doesn't do anything except (assumedly) haul ass to put the cart away and leave the scene.

That said, every car gets fucked up by other people, whether it's a $300 piece of crap or a Bentley. Trick is to not spend so much on a car that it kills you when it happens.

last year I watched a woman in a large land cruiser pulling out of a parking spot. She was oblivious to the car parked next to her. The front bumper of the land cruiser left a 6+ foot log dent on the drivers side of the vehicle next to her. She had either did not notice or did not care. Either way she screwed the other persons vehicle leaving them with the bill.

It is people like this that make me want to buy some insurance for the vehicle up front in terms of rock sliders and up armored bumpers. The old Jeep I drive has metal bumpers and has been in a number of little fender benders. That little Cherokee took out a full size Dodge truck in a head on while only crushing the fiberglass front end of the Jeep. I was either really lucky or the new Dodge uses really thin sheet metal.

Probably both. Wouldn't surprise me if sheet metal is thinning everywhere since the EPA has their balls in a vice for MPG requirements, and a lot of consumers demand 25 MPG and 450 HP from the same car.

HP numbers are increasing, emissions are getting better, and fuel mileage is increasing too. None of that makes sense together, except in consideration to vehicle weight and aerodynamics. Looking at today's blocky, wide faced full sized trucks - I'd say that aerodynamics are not where they're making the biggest changes.

So not to thread jack, but I was parked in the mall yesterday and when I came out the guy that parked in front of me had pressed his license plate screws into the plastic of my front bumper leaving two deep scratches in my bumper. I waited about 30min for him to come out, and he got all pissed at me like it wasn't his fault at all that he had damaged my truck. He was uber butt hurt that I wanted his information and was gonna press this with my insurance. I was so lost. Like how does that make sense in his head? You scratched up my BRAND NEW truck that I paid an arm and a leg for, and Im just supposed to smile and give you a, 'have a nice day!' ?
