6 month hilarious follow up. I was subpoenaed to traffic court last month.

So, the guy that hit me back in July challenged his ticket, which is his right. His attorney then filed a 40 page brief asking for a continuance, but sends a different attorney to court to ask for the continuance. The judge was having none of it and admonished her for 10 minutes for wasting my time, the ticketing officer’s time, the other witness’ time, and the court’s time.

All this for a failure to yield ticket.

The judge says he has now forfeit his right to plead guilty and must stand trail. Awesome.

I must add that if you plead guilty you can get traffic school (if you’re eligible). If you go to trial and are found guilty, traffic school is off the table. Plus you get socked with court costs.

Probably just trying to stretch it out long enough for another at fault crash to fall off their record. Though I'm not sure of the exact process where you are, but here, good driver may pay $700-$1000/year, one at fault crash gets you into $1500-$2000 (despite the so-called "accident forgiveness" bullshit), and 2 gets you way up into the $8000-$10000 zone. Its 6 years for a crash to drop off your record.
