It can be an issue but-

I wheel with a group of largely 3rd gen guys who beat the PISS out of their trucks, more extreme than anyone could reasonably expect. @Norilsk is on 37s, and wheels the shit out of his truck on the most extreme inclines possible. Buggy lines, etc. Hes also at 180k km without a single issue.

My point is, 3rd gen issues are extremely overblown on this forum, because of how many trucks have been sold. 99.9% of these trucks won’t have this issue. I have personally flipped my truck nearly on its side and only had cosmetic damage, no oil made it somewhere it shouldn’t be. The truck idled like this for half an hour without issue (-20, it was that or freeze, I did t have a coat)

You will without question be able to do what you pictured and more with no issues in a 3rd gen.

I’ve had a similar situation and blew the motor in my truck. I have a 22 Tacoma and I was Climbing (slowly) up a slightly steep hill with a deep rut on the drivers side. Truck had a low oil pressure light and then turned off. Wouldn’t turn back on and would only click. Winched my truck back to where it was level and let it sit for a bit. Cranked it a few times after that and once it started, it ran REALLY rough and then shut off. Threw 3 rods and 2 pistons.

Once we got it out of the truck and were able to diagnose what might have happened.. came to a hypothesis that at that steep angle towards the drivers side combined with a slight uphill, oil that was in the head got sucked into the PCV and hydro locked the motor. Not sure what else could cause something that catastrophic at idle. Sucks but I dropped a “new” motor in there.

check out my stories and stuff on my Instagram “Luau.taco” if you’re interested.
