155 or higher is just to effectively remove the limiter, since we cannot just disable it.

    Good stuff. Thanks!

I really need to check the angles that I have seen. They have all been level side to side, but pretty darn steep. I keep forgetting to turn on the Torque app when I'm out.

I got the taco to start blowing smoke, (and later collecting oil) at 22 to 23 degrees. At one point I measured how much/how fast the can was collecting oil….but don’t have that info on hand.

I can tell you that it will do this with the truck level side to side. The 4runner has to be severely off camber.

At only 22 degrees?!? That's scary.

    Damn. Sorry to hear that.

Interesting. I believe that I have been way beyond that, but no data to know for sure. One climb did give me a pucker of worry about a smoke show. Thankfully nothing.

This didn't feel particularly steep compared to other climbs, but I did goose here more than others:

It makes sense that pure side-hilling would do the same, given the noted issue.

Crazy that these things are hucking the rods from a bearing failure, or is it hydrolocking?

The bearing failure would be possible on a very steep decent. The uphill situation is oil getting forced past the valve seals due to pooling in the back of the valve cover and also getting sucking into the PCV, back to the intake, and hyrdolocking in the worse case.

    Check build thread!
I heard the word top speed, so I’m here to confirm that with a very long runway, proper tune, and a lot of patience you can hit just about 145mph. Never dared to go faster.

Damn, looks really close to your 23 degree limit. It was about to throw a rod for sure.

I have put my FJ's spare tire on the ground going up many obstacles and I have come close to flopping it more times than I can count. I have never seen a whisp of smoke let alone throw a rod through the block like the 3.5's do. The single 4.0 example you provided only reported a little bit of smoke (I'm sure he was past 23 degrees). Yet 3.5 Taco owners have dozens of reports of rods through blocks. Sorry to burst your bubble but the 3.5 is not designed well for severe angles.
    Capture.jpg

And yes this FJ stood up like this for 30 seconds running while the owner was taking in all the fun. The rod did not fly through the block.

No smoke reported, he ran it out of gas on a very steep climb. I have done the same thing in my FJ.

The first trail ready EV is going to make all of you look like chumps! :D They won't throw a rod, even if they're on their roof!
