Sorry, I know that doesn't help. But it makes the factory antenna a non-issue!

Sorry for the delay in posting - I've been taking care of other pressing matters...

Tried the Dremel today and no go. That was with a couple of bits that the tool came with. I may take a trip to the store tomorrow and get a different bit.

    More later...:)

    Good thought! :)

I've been using the iPhone music player for now...but it would still be nice to have a working radio.

Same thing happened to me. I called the car wash and they agreed to replace it at their cost. I had a body shop do it. Now I take the antenna off every time I go through a car wash.

A final update: After trying AGAIN to get the stud out (first saturating it with PB Blaster and letting it sit a couple of days) I ended up drilling AROUND the stud to free it (see pic).

In the process, I discovered that the part of the antenna base that makes electrical connection with the mast is actually near the TOP of the base. I learned that when I put the new antenna in and it didn't work. Ideally the entire base should be replaced (about a $40 part) but I just pried out some of the metal surface and it makes good contact with the stud. Problem solved.

Thanks again to everyone for their help & suggestions!

FYI - an area stealership quoted me $278 to fix it.
