Me too. I keep it in the console plugged into the 12v and charged all the while. Used it on my wife's Subaru the other day.

All this talk about being stranded somewhere, if you venture off into remote areas it is wise to carry a jumpstarter kit in case your battery does die...regardless of whether or not it's likely to happen. Getting stranded somewhere remote because of a dead battery is completely avoidable, you can get these jump starters for as little as $50 or so. Worth the peace of mind

The battery in my 2016 SR died at a little over 20k. Same as described. Couple of slow starts then nothing.
Dealer replaced it with an 84 mo. Trustart. I don’t think the original was this battery. After hearing the testimonial, I think I will let it ride rather than replacing it preemptively.
I was surprised to se “84 mo.” On the battery.

Yep, Trustart is not the OE battery from the factory. I did the same but had toyota reimburse me for it under warranty.

How many watts inverter are you using? And how many ah total do you get from both batteries? I just hooked up 800 watt inverter. I want to get a stronger one but I am concerned if the alternator and the battery can sustain it. Fyi, I am only running one battery. I am aware we have 130 amp alternator. Appreciate any feedback.

Just did a search for TrueStart battery. They do not seem to be highly regarded. I may have to start planning for my next battery.

Lot of people think winter kills batteries, but I think you are right. I heard a saying that was "summer heat kills batteries, but winter is when they start to stink"

One of the first things I did was changed out the Tacoma battery to an Oddysey, then used the OE battery in another car.

With my handmade oak riser mount.

For fridges in particular, you don't need an AC inverter, in fact you shouldn't use that, you can get a 12V direct real fridge. I have a little one that does 4.5A @12v and a bigger that runs 6A 12V. 68Ah per battery x2 (if I forcefully bridge them, but then you'd be draining your starter battery). Throw up a 100W panel during the day on top of the camper and you're set.

That's gnarly. Born and raised in AZ, never once had to be jumped ever. I honestly can't think of a time a battery left me stranded. I replace when they start sounding weak. 3-4-5 even six years down the road.

Have you ever researched the first few years the JK was made? It makes me happy seeing the little issues the first years the 3rd gen has had. There is reason why they switched motors in the JKs after a few years

My battery died today... For the second time.
The first time was around 9K Mark and took it to dealer. Got replaced under warranty.

Today I'm at 14.5K and I had no problem starting it in the morning, during lunch, when I left work and then again after I got home to go to my Dr appointment. I was at the Dr for about 1.5 hrs and then it's completely dead, won't even turn once.

Didn't have time to wait for roadside so popped the clutch... Drove about 20 mind home, parked it.. tried again.. DEAD..

Mine took a crap with just 3000 miles. I asked them to install a group 27. No problem. Had to buy a tray from the 2nd gen. Batteries were all 130 bucks at the dealer. Good time to upgrade. If they don't have the tray , just sit the battery in there without it. Order the tray and put it in the next day .

I’d have then replace it again then swap it out for a new better sealed deep cycle battery. Sell the dealer battery on Craigslist.

Mine died at around 24,000 miles; and the evening before we were taking off for a long road trip. Just replaced it with whatever AGM platinum our lock auto store had in stock as we were in a hurry.

Then the battery on our 2015 Taurus SHO, with about 35,000 miles, also kicked the bucket.
