I got my 2020 TRD OR this time last year. Thanks to this forum, I started planning a road trip from Houston to Colorado.
Earlier this year I started building my own bed rack. I bought a Voodoo mount and started my build from that.
    It worked out great!

It's adjustable...low setting for my RTT, that way the RTT is tucked in a little bit behind the cab. High setting for the kayak.

All done in my garage with angle grinder and portable drill...and lots of cutting and drilling a crap ton of holes...and a minor welding that I got my local muffler shop do for me.

That looks great! For the uprights, it looks like you gutted square tubing for the lower section, but how did you build the upper part? Is it bent or cut and welded? I've had a design floating in my mind for a while now, but I keep pushing it back for other projects. I might have to finish it up and make it.

The top bar, or I call it the load bar are structural beam. It's 1/8 web and 3/16 leg ( or the other way around ) by 3 inch wide.

The main posts are 3 inch 3/16 square tubing, they fit perfectly into the Voodoo mount. I did hollow it out so I can spray paint the inside, and to drill the holes on the inside to mount the bolt for the unistrut. Do not remove all of it, the tubing will warp and you will have bigger problems...trust me, I know lol

The sliding sleeve are 12X12 metal sheet, also 3/16 thick. This is where the hard work begins. I grind off the inside so I can fold them easier. Once I folded them, I took them to the muffler shop to re weld the metal I removed.

Folding the metal sheet took a little bit of work. I do not own any tools to do it, so I used C clamps and 2X2s.

After doing all of that...drilling the holes were another issue. I do not own a drill press, and I only have a portable drill. The holes not lining up was something I needed to avoid...I came up with this solution.

The mounts for the maxx tracks are actually unistrut from Lowes. I would love to use aluminum extrusion but they are expensive.

Everything else is 3/16 metal square tubing and structural metal beam from a local steel yard. You can buy them on Amazon but are very expensive....almost 3x the price of the steel yard
