Been wanting to do this on my 2015 for a while and now that I have a second one I figured it was time. I didn't like the idea of bending the relay terminals or jamming wires into them either. After reading a few other threads, this is what I came up with.
I did this on both a 2014 and 2015, both SR5 models. Not sure what other years or trim levels this might work on.
I opened the relay box, pulled it out and untaped the harness to expose everything.
The foglight relay is on the bottom left, above it is the relay for the auxiliary air pump. This is where I ended up pulling power from.

The red with black wire is 12v for the foglight relay and the blue with white wire is the 12v for the auxiliary air pump. I ended up cutting both of these wires about 6-8" from the relay box.

I used a weatherproof butt splice to splice both wires from the relay box to just the blue with white wire from the harness. I folded over the very end of the red with black wire from the harness and covered the end with a piece of heatshrink.

After this I just retaped the wires, reinstalled the loom and remounted the relay box. Looks just like it did from the factory.

Have you verified that the fogs turn ON after engine off? That wire is also part of the leak detection cycle.

No I have not. I didn't see this in any of the threads I looked at before doing it. I will have to keep an eye on it. Thanks for the info.

So unfortunately yes I have seen the lights on on each truck once while it had been off for a few hours. In each case they were only on for 15 to 30 seconds after I noticed that they were on, but obviously I don't know how long they were on before that.
From what I have since read, I appears this self check happens about 4 or 5 hours after the truck is turned off. The duration appears to be 5 to 10 mins.
With all of this said, I will be undoing this and finding another source of switched 12v power but I also don't feel that it is something that I must do immediately.

Very true. However I do like the idea of set it and forget it.

There are a few other options, 2 in the engine bay fuse/relay box.
