Had my 2nd gen 2010 frame inspected last year before the deadline as well as the rear spring TSB done. They did the frame inspection supposedly (I specifically asked for it) and said it was fine, I suspect it was actually bad, they did not offer coating. I was working on it last weekend and while underneath I saw some rust flaking off, I poked at it with my finger and then it fell off and I was able to push my finger all the way through. How does a frame go from fine to crap in one year. Do I have any recourse?

Because I had it inspected is it still und warranty? Im about to head overseas for minimum 3 year assignment and wanted to take the truck with me but I’m worried now because I won’t be able to do anything about if it fails and will certainly only get worse.

No, the facelift 2012-2015 models got the spray and warranty extension, it doesn't apply to the 2005-2011. Basically you have nothing.

No recourse either, basically it wasn't a recall, it was a class action lawsuit, so there's no extensions or exemptions.

You get 12 years from date of first use, which for many 2010s will be some time in late 2009 or early 2010. the following link has the details of the Warranty Extension/Class Action Settlement https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2017/MC-10152139-9999.pdf
The link above says it applies to MY2005-2010

When was your 'deadline'? What is your first put into service date? I was able to get mine in 3 days before the 12 years was up, but it was helpful knowing the drop dead date.

I mean after the inspection it doesn't create a warranty extension, the 12 years was all. The 2012-2015, you get inspection and sprayed, then you get a bonus extension.

I believe most 2011's even are expired now.

After looking I finally found the date of first use, Oct 15 2009. This burns me up. Not really sure what to do now.

Bummer man. Sorry to hear. Go with @MurderedTacoV2 suggestion. If mine didn't fail when it did I was going to trade it in because it was a time bomb at that point.

here ya go! This is just a couple but it’s bad especially up by the motor. I suspect they didn’t really do much of an inspection.

Spoke to an attorney friend who said make another appointment for an inspection and then appeal to them to do the right thing because they obviously didn’t the first time.

whatever you do DO NOT take it overseas...they have VERY stringent inspections and you will NOT pass...and be left with a truck you cannot operate on their roadways..well depending on WHERE overseas youre going..
