    My neighbor had his Tacoma ( 99 I think) coated by a toyota dealer, than a couple of years later they deemed the truck unsafe. This truck was beat to shit. They gave him a $11,000 check. This happened last spring. He was a happy dude.

    Well, got my letter from Toyota. Cheque is in the mail.The offer was pretty good so I guess thats it for this TACO. Kind of bitter sweet, The truck is super clean, and drives perfect.No idea on what to get now?

    i have a 11/00 production date tacoma i was basically told by toyota to go pound sand b/c the prev. owner never got the rust prevention and the recall ended 9/11 , any advice would be appreciated.
    sounds like you had no issues though.

    So in other words it is designated and registered as a '2001' truck.

    Look at your state registration for yr mod or the last 8 digits of the VIN.
    If it starts with YZ = 2000, 1Z = 2001

    If you read through the threads on here you'll see that 2001 thru 2004 trucks had to be inspected by 12/31/12 ('cept NY) or you're out of luck.

    What happened to that 15 year grace period? I'm sure you're right but I thought the 1st Gens would be inspected/treated/bought until they were 15 years old.
