Getting the kid ready for school this morning and heard a bang outside....some old lady in a Suburban came around the corner, spilled her coffee, and smacked into a RAV 4 that was parked in front of my Tacoma on the street...broke the knuckle on the Rav 4 and wadded up everything outside the driver's side frame rail, and pushed it over the curb and back into my Tacoma.

Needs hood, core support, pass fender, everything forward of the core support (headlights, bumper, grill, etc...).

I'm guessing $8-10K to fix it.

This is just for a fun guess game right? because the woman's insurance should be footing the bill for it all.

Try and get the old lady to have to do a vision test or driving test.

Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll revoke her driving privileges forever and make your neighborhood safer for everyone

    I don't think that's necessary....

All 3 parties involved use the same insurance company...so it'll either be easier or harder...not sure yet lol.

It'll be for sale either before it's fixed or after, as I don't like being the owner of previously hit and body shop "fixed" vehicles. Waiting on an adjuster to show up in the next couple days. Gotta drive the old chevy for the time being...no issues there...it's way more comfy

Don’t forget to to be compensated for diminished value. Insurance companies don’t like to let you know about that when you file a claim.

They also don't like to tell you about loss of use as well

I told 'em they'd be on the hook for feeding my Chevy at 8mpg or they could rent me a truck (Tacoma is my business vehicle...gets used as a truck every day)...they haven't told me what they're planning on doing yet, so I wrote down the mileage before I jumped in the other truck this afternoon...

I'm not new to dealing with insurance companies....but I hate every second of it. I'm gonna lose money one way or another I'm pretty sure...we'll find out.

They don't care what you use to drive around in, but loss of use would be a 'set amount' they'd have to pay out to either - cover a rental for the days you are without your vehicle, or pay you out assuming you rented your own car (at the lowest daily rate possible)

I'll simply invoice them at the end, just like I did last time. Except maybe this time they'll send a competent estimator so I don't need to bill them $900 for a "estimator consulting fee" like I did last time when they botched it 3 times in a row before finally telling me mine was the most accurate. I'm not sure if they care or not, but money is not an issue so I'll have my attorney go after them if they don't make me whole....I don't have the time for it at this stage in my life.
