Another Last Min Trail Run In the Backcountry 10-15-11

Sure and I need to sell some sprinkler systems and landscape lights... but, I won't do that in a thread about a run to Ocotillo Wells... unless you think it will actually help!?? LOL

You dont pay attention to well do you? Some people. I posted back on page 3 or 4 that there was a plan change and that everyone needs to check out the original post on page one for the time change. do to the fact that we are going to go out to Ocotillo wells and have a great day. we need to get out there as early as possible

9 am at the ranger station on Hwy. 78, just west of Ocotillo Wells (it's on the left side of highway).

Matt, I sent you my cell on a PM... if you send me yours, I can find you guys/ let you know if I get hung up. I will leave Oceanside between 7 and 7:30 and head directly for Ocotillo Wells Ranger Station.

I suggest everyone bring an ice chest with water and drinks/ snacks/ lunch as well as an air pump for sand deflating... maybe a shovel (if you didn't deflate first)!

 

If anyone is interested... any steep hillclimb that is a tad difficult (Devil's Slide top road or Diablo Dropoff, etc.), I can do some comparrison runs... 4WD HI/ open, 4WD HI/ TRAC, 4WD rear locker, 4WD A-TRAC, etc. Anyone else with an Off Road 4WD who hasn't experienced either the locker or A-TRAC... or a Sport with the yellow wire mod (4 Lo Trac) will get an idea how much improvement limited slip or no slip makes! Sand driving / climbing at Devil's Slide in 2WD vs. 4WD will be possible, too.

 

I'll be out there camping at Aqua Caliente with the family..planning to hit some local trails.

 

How ya doing Roy? Why dont you meet up with us and we can run th trails together?

 

I would like too, but saw this too late, and meeting time is not possible carting the whole family around, must first setup camp before I can go play....

 

Where do you think you will be playing? at least a general location and maybe we will find our way to you

Going to see if I can get to Sandstone Canyon from Aqua Caliente, haven't figured out a trail yet...may have to go south and then north. Not sure if my Taco can do that Diablo Drop-off

 

This is what I really wanna do- Deflate myself to 16psi and try some good sandy hills like Devil's Slide in my Taco. Still haven't tried Devil's Slide in it. We should get some good video for our regional video comp while we're playing around there and we should also do the same at Shell Reef. I just need more footage of other trucks for it to be complete. I'm thinking about trying blowsand hill also

 

Man, you guys have me debating whether or not to go to the 10k or go with y'all!
