I own a 2013 DCSB OR. After some time of savings I am about to purchase new suspension. Truck has about 90,000 miles. 2+1 rear leaf springs. I'm thinking about the Bilstein 6112/5160 setup from Headstrong, set at the fourth notch. Also fairly sure I am going to pick up JBA high caster UCA's. My big question is on rear springs. I have no plans to add bumpers or armor, and I dont often haul heavy loads(occasionally). Tow a pop-up trailer two or three times a summer. Will the Dakar leafs work for me, or will the three leaf add-a-leaf suffice?

I've studied this stuff here for two or three years, but havent seen anyone pose this question with my exact setup, so apologies if it has been covered before. Also dont plan to go any bigger than my 265/75/16 tires. Any suggestions welcomed.

Sounds like a nice set up you are planning.

If those are the original leaf springs, I would get a new leaf pack. Especially with the towing, even on occasion. Yes, the Dakar leaf pack should work out nicely for you.

Thanks, I sorta suspected that already. Although a lot a folks say that the dakars are pretty stiff if you don't carry a constant load. I think maybe losing one of the leafs may be the right way to go. Any input on UCA's? I don't know if the fourth setting is too high for stock or what.

If you go with the Heavy duty Dakar pack that could definitely lead to a stiffer ride.

As far as the JBA UCA's, I do not know a whole lot about them other than it will help with alignment and ride with larger tires. There is a good thread about the JBA's: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-and-suspension-mega-thread-bs-thread.364484/

I am not sure, but I thought that I read somewhere in that thread that certain wheel backspacing may be needed as well. Not really sure.

@Unchained 5150 I think is running the JBA UCA's, and may be able to help you out a little more than I can.

Edit: @EatSleepTacos is another member who also may be able to assist you more with the JBA UCA's

I'm thinking medium duty dakars. Also I am having 16x8 Ray 10's installed tonight. Wanted to wait for lift, but I want my stock 16" alloys to put on my new 2012 standard cab. It is going to be a work truck, and it came with steel wheels. They dont look so nice, you know?

Anyway if I could get away without new leaf springs or UCA's I would love the cost savings, but I also want to do it right the first time.

Above are the two trucks in question. Alloys from the TRD going on to the white 2012 standard cab. Ray 10's going on the TRD tonight.

Those Ray 10's and the 265/75R16 will look really nice. You should be fine without UCA's and a full leaf pack with the 6112/5160 combo with that size tire. Instead of the full leaf pack you could go with a 3 leaf progressive AAL, and that should work out well for you.

Looks good. Where is it rubbing? Are you running 265/75R16? With the 16 x 8 Ray 10's, the backspacing is 4 and a -10 offset.

Getting the lift on and an alignment will help out some. May have to do a CMC, or some minor trimming. The UCA's would also help, but like I mentioned earlier; not something that I know a lot about. I have seen a lot of people running that wheel/tire set up, and I do not remember if they had to do any trimming or CMC.

@Blackout14 may be able to offer some more advice on the JBA UCA's.

Sounds good. Wasnt sure if I needed alignment or not. Everything is still stock but the wheels. Gonnna order lift soon, but 6112 is out of stock at Headstrong. Will call Wheelers tomorrow but they are probably backordered too. We shall see. Thanks for the help.

I had to remove those little front flaps after getting 265/75s, they rubbed in reverse. After that it was fine.

Just spoke with Wheelers. 6112 is on national backorder and has been for some time. No idea when they are back in stock, Bilstein will not respond to them anymore. May have to go another route. Any suggestions?
