So, here’s what I am hearing from some of you.

Imagine you are looking to purchase a Tacoma with 200,000 miles and you have two identical trucks to select from. Same PRICE, same mileage, same color, same mods, etc. so alike the only way you can tell them apart is by their vin number.

Now let’s add that one of them is my truck and the other had 10k oil changes with the cheapest oil and filter.

You guys are trying to tell me you would purchase the other truck? Or, you could care less that you would take either and have no particular stance on one versus the other.

Know what? I call BULLSHIT. Just saying.

Blackstone laboratories said years ago they couldn't find any measurable difference in engine wear between brands.

Knowing how you care for your car, it would be an obvious choice to take yours. That said, I still don't think it makes enough difference to justify the time & effort. Also, I would look at other factors such as condition of the paint, interior, undercarriage, etc. when making the final decision.

And you expect they would publicly disclose their proprietary data to all of us? Or is their business better served staying neutral or picking a favorite? Have you seen how people flip out when you call their baby ugly?!

EVERYTHING equal. Only the vin number would help you distinguish one from the other.

If you don’t get the point I don’t think another explanation would help.

The only thing is would say is not achieving any benefit is the remote starts. I work on electrical generation systems and a major problem for diesel back-up generators is “wet” oil from maintenance people running the engine, unloaded, for 15 minutes etc once a month as a function test. The constant heating and cooling condenses water inside the block which is absorbed into the oil. Contrary to popular belief, engine oil does absorb a set amount of moisture. If an engine is used constantly, like a normal daily driver, the water in the oil boils off when the oil reaches operating temperatures so is not a problem. On engines where operating temperature is never reached, the oil can become “wet” and things inside the engine like bearing journals etc can become pitted from corrosion.

We have taken apart engines that were perfectly dry and clean on the outside, to find them orange with rust on the inside, due to this phenomena. Always as a result of unloaded running for short periods of time.

Personally I would skip the remote start ups. That’s a bad idea, based on my experiences.

Great example of why I posted. To get excellent feedback such as this. Together we are much smarter than individually. Thanks!

Damn, all i do is jizz in a cup and pour it in the engine every 3k miles as an additive. I was told once it helps lubricate the components. Prior to that I was spitting in my engine but that took too long.
