It probably won't cause any issues but it is on the service report that it has the wrong oil in the truck. That might cause problems with your warranty. I don't know, but I would be concerned in case there were ever any issues with the engine. How are you going to prove you did not ask for the synthetic and they made the mistake. Go get it fixed so you don't have any problems in the future just for peace of mind that the service report is correct.

The best way I can prove that I didn't ask for it is because I didn't have to pay for it. I did pay for my tire balance (that's not covered in the 2yr plan??) but it shows on my CC receipt only the 60 something for the balance.

The more reading I do the more confusing it gets as to if this needs to be swapped or not. I'm seeing threads on here and other sites some saying its better and even a new standard from Toyota to use the 0w-20 in the V6 and other saying its too thin and not going to lubricate properly. I know if I call the dealer they will say just leave it because they don't want to eat anything, so I'll just have to just see what happens tomorrow when I call Toyota and ask without mentioning they already did it.

I looked at that chart earlier and that's what confused me the most, for the 1GR-FE (our V6's) under the 4 Runner and FJ it says 0w-20. BUT under the Taco 1GR-FE its listed only 5w-30.

I would. . .oh man that bug is tripping me out. . . lol.

Have them switch it back while you watch - agree with other poster. And NEVER take your truck to the dealer for oil changes or anything that it doesn't need to go back for.

On my 2011 I4 I turned down 5 free oil changes because I don't want the dealer jacking around in my truck, getting grease everywhere, leaving cigarette buts hidden in the truck . . .Putting the wrong oil in. . .leaving tools underneath your hood. . .

You have the 1GR-FE (our v6) it takes 5w-30. That's Toyota's requirement. Toyota is saying your truck takes 5w-30 not 0w-20. According to their requirements they put the wrong oil in your truck. If you desire to have the correct oil (according to Toyota requirements) than ask them to fix it. I don't have a clue about the 4 runner and the FJ compared to the Tacoma, all I know is what the chart says for your truck. So as I said if you want it to read correctly in the service reports you can probably get it fixed since it appears they have made a mistake. It's all up to you and what you would like done.

    Things I need to tow.
I do my own maintenance and keep a log too. But, not everyone may know that there's an owners page on Toyota's site where you can set up an account and keep maintenance records on your vehicles. Anything the dealer does shows up there too. Of course this is all for Toyota's use, but it can't hurt to have date stamped maintenance entries in their log in case warranty issues come up. Don't know who at Toyota has access to this information, but in case of a dispute you could always log in on your mobile device and show them what you've entered as being done. Once you put in the VIN, a facsimile of your vehicle shows up, which is interesting. I have two Toyota vehicles in my log.
