Good/bad thing about cars these days, they can be hooked to a computer and the tech/cop can see what was going on before a crash. Including braking and throttle position. If the other driver sped up, it can be seen and presented as evidence.

I have to agree on the SFSEs. In FL it is required you submit to SFSEs if it's believed the driver is impaired. Failure to comply means you arrested and lose your license for 1 year. The arrest may not stick but you will lose your license for that year either way for failure to submit.

Also before anyone says that's dumb, if you refuse Implied consent is read to you like Miranda warnings are stating failure to comply means loss of driving privledges. So they are forwarned and a lot still refuse.

You do understand that OP did PRECISELY what you just said the Jetta did right? He is in the wrong. Dash cam would solidify wrongness in this situation.

Never trying to help huh? Well I guess I’ve been doing my job all wrong. I didn’t know we were suppose to NEVER help anyone.

Jeez what academy did you even go to that it was never covered? We're NEVER there to help only wildly accuse everyone of a crime.

Seriously though that guys jackass comment is what shows me he has an authority complex.

Huh. Not the meaning I intended, but I guess I can see how you see that. More like "I'm trying to help you" never ends up happening that way.

Seems like these days for every good cop we have one or more bad ones, all I'm saying. I know plenty of both.

I'm the type who always goes into the middle of the intersection to turn left. Florida and Alabama laws allow one car in the middle. Running a red light in those states means crossing the white line AFTER the light tuns red. If your car is fully across the white line before it turns red, you are legally ok after it turns red in FL/AL.

I'm pretty paranoid about other cars not stopping, so I usually wait until it's been red for a second, then start turning.

Reading this post keeps my paranoia up, as that could happen to anyone. I'm also getting a dash cam within a month.

Well this was interesting. I spoke with the claims adjuster, who reviewed the statement the other party gave them this morning. In his recorded statement he claims he was going 45 in a 45 and that the light was green. Only thing is, the limit is 40 where he came from, and there is a sign just after the light in the direction he was going that reduced the limit down to 35. So he was speeding, and rather than slowing down before the limit changed so that he was at the new limit, he maintained his speed through the light. I also didn't see any skid marks other than mine (he spun my truck around about 140 degrees when he hit).
