What makes someone want to do this? Possibly somebody who tried to enlist and didnt get through MEPS? Or just somebody wanting attention?

I like this guys post on the site:

Every time I see these things I think they can’t get more stupid and every time I’m wrong. What in the fuck is this guy thinking? He is actually walking around in public like this? I understand maybe dressing up like a ninja in your bedroom and taking pics, but this is beyond functionally retarded. Did he think there wouldn’t be any vets in a casino?? This is the level of stupid that requires medication and a small room.

Had a 'friend' that I stuck my neck out for several times and got burned badly before wising up and telling him to fuck off. Well he always talked about how he was a Marine, and would talk down about 'boots' and posers and all that, come to find out following me to tell him to fuck off, he didn't make it through basic. He had always said he was released for medical reasons but wouldn't elaborate, apparently he was homesick :(.

I'm not military, and wouldn't think about pretending I was because I can't put you men and women on a pedestal high enough.

Not military either and I'm not familiar with ribbons and pins, despite that, this guy looks like he just got off a seniors cruise. His dress looks sloppy, not all servicemen are perfect, but I've never seen anything like this.

For one thing his service stripes show that he has between 12 - 15 years of service and he doesn't look old enough. Plus he has a star on his National Defense Service Medal (which means 2nd Award) and for him to have two that would mean he would have had to serve before 1995 when it was awarded for service during the Gulf War.

Plus he has a mixture of Army, Marine, and I think Air Force Ribbons (which is possible but I doubt he has served in all three services). Plus they are out of order. He has a Distinguished Flying Cross (which is a very, very rare award in the Army) below his ARCOM. Plus his CIB is crooked

This should be illegal as far as I am concerned. I am not familiar with military rules here, but I was in the Army in South Africa, and it was illegal to wear any kind of military uniform in public if you are not actively serving. My wife (girlfriend at the time) almost got in big trouble one night when she stopped at an ATM and she just got out real quick to get cash. It was cold so she threw my army jacket which was in her car over her shoulders. An officer saw her and came up to her and gave her all kinds of hell about it.

i think it is illegal. i don't care if it's legal or not, it's very disrespectful for the people that serve and have served.

Currently it's a Federal offense to claim that you've earned military medals and awards. The law is been challenged as infringement on freedom of expression.

I did not served long in the Army (Medical discharge) so there are a LOT of ribbons and awards that I have no clue where they go, or in which order. But this guys "awards" and badges are mess or clinical proportions!
