Also check on TTORA (not much activity nowadays) and Pirate since people sell off IFS shit there more often. Maybe Yotatech since there is a lot of 4Runner stuff there. You can easily swap transmissions in a full day or weekend if it takes longer than expected. The front suspension is easy enough as well. Probably clean and re-grease the spindles/hubs prior to swapping, just a good idea and not hard. Try to get the hardware for the differential too. Otherwise you will have to find some unusual sized bolts. Not hard to find, just be inconvenient.

Try to get the trans/tcase together. If not be sure it is a 4x4 transmission, the tailhousings are different. car-part.com would probably be a good recourse to use for the trans/tcase/front diff. I bought two FJ80 axles using it with success.

Since everyone wants gold for manual lockouts.... If you find spindles but no lockouts. Rock auto -> 98 Tacoma -> 3.4 V6 -> Brake wheel/hub -> lockouts, $104 a piece. Thats cheap for brand-spakin new factory Aisin's. I almost want to buy them in case I buy another 1st gen next year. You wont find a better price on those new.

    J shift is nice.
You'll have the option of going with twin sticks if desired.

    Good luck.

The downside with manual hubs is the lack of plug and play 4wd with long travel. You have to custom build your axles from Tundra inner axles and Manual Hub Tacoma outer axles.

The ADD system does have a separate ECM that controls two vacuum solenoids. The vacuum solenoids control the vacuum motor that locks in the front axle. You would need the ECM, related wiring, solenoids and vacuum lines also. Manual lockouts would be much easier.

    This is what I'm doing.

Push button T-Case with manual diff/hubs.

The actuator on the push button T-Case spins one way to be in 2wd, then spins the other way for 4wd.

So wire it up like this.

The 4WD button on the shifter turns the relay on

The DPDT switch switches the polarity one way or another to spin the actuator in either direction.

Then you manually shift it to select high or low range.

If I get a good price on a J-shift I may go that route, if not, this will work fine as well

The "TC Actuator" is the actual connector on the T-Case.

There's 5 pins. Laid out in that format. (In case you decide this route)

Well, found a wrecked 97 limited 4x4 4Runner that runs for 750 not sure if it has the locker or not. Going to pick it up this weekend, lol just need to find a way to go get it, don't think the taco or 4Runner will do the job. I would need new front and rear driveshafts right?

    The front should work fine.

I don't believe the rear will since you have a reg cab, but I'm not sure. Need someone more knowledgeable to answer that
