About this rust? I live in Vegas, pretty dry however, the truck did come from California. 2016 off road 4x4 build in Mexico.
I noticed when getting new shoes for the rig.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hurley

No. Bare cast iron will always have surface rust.

Looks like you're doing enough damage to it. Rust won't have time to break it before you do.

Yeah you're screwed. Truck will be a rust bucket within 50 years. You should try sale it before it's too late.

Eh, looks like just surface rust. My rotors will look like that if I just leave my car out in the rain for a few days.

Mine looks the same (california). And although everyone says normal, which I too believe it is for this, my ford truck didn't have rust like this even after 14 years of being in california. So I don't know what Toyota is skimping out on.

Yah, looks like you got it pretty bad too. Mine's only five months old and it looks about as bad as that. But I already made up my mind since my transmission's low, the U-joints weren't stuffed with grease till I did it at 5k, I'm only going to keep it for 15-20 years before I hand it down the line, and it will be up to them to get rid of it before the wheels fall off.
Till then, no worries, I'm gonna ride the chit out this baby! :)
    Cheers!

Level 8 trackers. I had them on my old Tacoma and liked them.

    Who wore them better?........

The underside of my 2013 F-150 was starting to look like a rust bucket before I traded it in for the Tacoma. If I let it sit for a week without driving it the rotors would completely rust over and howl till the rust got rubbed off.

go wash ANY car ever made with normal rotors not anything exotic like carbon or anything on super cars. They will be rusted before your done drying the car/truck. That is 100% normal.

You could put some anti seize on that area, not that you'll ever need it, but where I live it's common for the wheel to seize to the drum in those areas and it takes some very hard hits with both boots sometimes to get the wheel off. Will protect against rust as well.

Hey, I might just do that. Thanks Northerntaco!

I have another question for you genius people.
So I notice that the tires on the passenger side of the truck stick out more than the drivers side by about 1/2 inch. Pretty noticeable when standing behind the truck. Discount Tires said it has to be something with the truck but they will try switching wheels.
Any input? Maybe the Taco lean I have heard about? Will this wear my tires differently?

It's hard to tell by the pictures but they for sure stick out a little more.
    Thanks studs........

The taco lean is normal with the driver, the gas tank, and battery on the left side-It tends to be a little lower on that side.
For the wheels check your u-bolts & centering pins. Make sure the centering pins aren't broken and the leaf springs are sitting centered on each spring perch. Also, check your eyebolts & shackles too.
If all those are good which they should be since its a new vehicle check the bed to see if its even with the cab on both sides? If its offset by the amount that the wheel requires to be corrected. The theres your problem loosen the bed bolts, move the bed, and tighten
