The replacement frames were made of the same material and procedure, nothing lasts in salt.

I can`t see having only one vehicle to get to work .

It is just me I have 4 .

It never fails those quick jobs in my case turn into a week waiting for parts.

I have learned to not park in front of the roll up door though.

not to repeat but..saf-t-cap is your best option if you can weld. i also had similar rust and repaired w autorusts frame sections. fit great and easy to weld in..once i removed gas tank...leaf springs..actually..it was alot of work but satisfying to have my truck running again. will rust again here in ny but i have bought several more years at least. only 210k on this 99 4 cylinder. good luck.

A while back I picked up a little POS vehicle off craigslist for $700 just in case, well when my motor took a dive I'm sure glad this thing was chilling out in the corner of the garage. Even tho its a noisy, stinky little bastard its mechanically sound. Took out the back seat to haul tools, parts etc. Even tho it takes up space it was really handy when I needed a spare. If something does happen I can offload for $500 to some kid that would chop the top off or something silly. I know its a bandaid but it would help while your truck gets the attention it deserves.

That car doesn't look big enough to have a back seat .

There is nothing left to weld to unfortunately , the poor truck needs a new frame and once you start that you will find more . GL to you .

Just to be safe, check the lower control arm mounts on the front of that Metro. That part of the subframe rusts out really bad on those cars.

been on the hunt for something different. Prices of cars are insane. $25k for a 5 year old truck seems a bit insane. Might be time to just get a crappy corolla. I really cant imagine not having a truck....but that might be reality here.

i might try to call toyota and see what they say as well. THing is...my truck has service records from 2009 about the ECALL/CAMPAIGN ~|~PERFORM SSC# 90D RECALL ~|~OPEN RECALL FOUND ON DEALER DAILY ~|~PERFORMED SSC#90D WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT REMOVED RUST SCALE. APPLY CORROSION RESISTANT COATING TO INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF FRAME.

We all knew that "fix" was worthless but it does say warranty enhancement. Probably means nothing since my truck is more than 12 years old.

Did you ever say where you live? There are people on here, like me, who have repaired worse than what is shown in your pictures.

    nope. Nothing....

The warrany on the "frame enhancements" that were done to coat the frame were expired june of 2019. Just a few months out of warranty.....

That was from the dealer that did the work. They told me to try and call corporate. Im on hold there now.....

I am not holding my breath. These people dont care. Why would they....

beats me. DOesnt appear to be any recall goop on the frame in this area but it all might have flaked off 10 minutes after it was put on just like the rest of it.

The gal im on the phone with at corporate basically just said its not their problem. Read me the same notes out of the ticket i started with the dealership about the "frame enhancement" warranty nonesense.

"No open recalls for the frame" and no "warranty" on the vehicle at all....

they did express concerns about my open recall for the rear tire carrier replacement or whatever. (who cares...the frame is fubar). These people make no sense.

i wonder if i brought my rear shock and section of frame into a dealer and slammed it down on the front desk.....if they would give me a deal on some preowned used car just to get me something that runs adn drives safely....

    probably not.
