Another rough start up thread (2.7)

I just wanted to see what everyone thinks about this. My truck is a 96, nearly 330k miles and it is a 2.7. I have a feeling the motor has been replaced, it does not use any oil at all between 3500 mile intervals. I have had the truck 5 years and driven it about 65000 miles.

The truck has had a brief rough start since I got it. By this I mean when I start it, it idles rough for about 10-15 seconds then it clears up fine, no more rough idle. The rest of the time the truck idles and runs perfect. The idle seems slightly rough when warm but it is not the same "miss" type of thing.

The reason I bring this up is because so often this is considered a head gasket or head issue. If that is the case, why do people fix it? I have no idea if mine has a head gasket or head issue, but if it does then it has had it for the last 70k miles.

The truck does not seem down on power to me. Yes it is weak, but it is a 4x4 2.7 after all. Still gets 20mpg all day long mixed driving.

The fuel pump and filter have been replaced recently with no change. The truck does not smoke at all unless it is really cold then we see the condensation steam.

What are everyone's opinion on this? I guess I need to clean the iac and try seafoam maybe...

 

My 2.7 also has a rough idle at initial start up, For 5 sec. maybe not 10-15..

I know its not a head gasket leaking and its not very likely yours is either.

I think its just the engine warming up getting the air to flow threw the gunk.

 

At 231K on my '01, I don't burn any oil, nor do I have any rough idle. How are your plug wires? I had some missing on an older car, before coil packs, and new wires solved the problem.
