Hi everybody! Just bought my first Tacoma Sept 1st and have been drowning in forums and research and cross referencing for the past 4 days. I've done plenty of off roading from Lake Tahoe area all the way to El Centro but have never built one. I work in Ocotillo Wells, which some of you may be familiar with, and it was time to get rid of my city slicker Lexus 430 ls for a proper 4x4.

Well I landed on this '00 v6 4x4 5 spd manual and now I'm here to show you how to really build a desert adventurer! Just kidding I have no idea what I'm doing.

Anyway check out my Tacoma and give me some feedback!

Future upgrades (coming within a month - and pics)
25001 151 king coils up front
    25001 153A shocks in back w/ adjusters
    4130 uniball Total chaos uca
    Some bigger bfg ko2s
Some kind of steel black wheel 17"
    ________
While I continue to research and make sure this is the best fit for the trail riding/ decent road mileage combo, anybody with better insight is welcome to drop their .02

    Too few to list.
Welcome. I suggest going with a 16" wheel and lighter tires if you want decent mpg. Good choice on going MT on a 1st gen.

20170905_183825.jpg Thanks DriverSound! The truck came with 17in steelies from an fj cruiser so I just threw on some bfg a/t ko's. However, I am tossing around the idea of having two sets of wheels/tires. I'll keep my eyes peeled for smaller size rims and road tires for the mpg. Thanks for the idea! I hadn't thought of downsizing the wheels, just the tires.

    New Tires above.

    Update:
New tires- bfg k0's 245/70/17 smaller for the 1 mpg
    Deck plate mod done
    Uca ball joint boots
King coilovers in the works unless I get convinced that I can achieve similar results through something like a bilstein 5125 and an appropriate spring ratio for my driving.
