Do it every time you fill up. You have plenty of time to do it while the tank fills.

Uh, if there’s no rodents, why is there an abundance of raptors in your area?

You are thinking of it backwards- the prey control the predators, it’s not the other way.

I've used Corrosion Free to rust proof my vehicles since christ was a cowboy...

Mice have entered, nested a few times, but never chewed any of the wiring.

I spray directly on the wiring harnesses under the hood. It seems they do not like the taste...WHOOOOO!!!

seems like it works for me.....we have many mice cruising around the house trying to get in....

No doubt. They are keeping them in check. I haven't seen any squirrels, but I have dealt with a few mice this year, with the crazy winter we've all had, and almost had an encounter at 3 a.m. with a skunk. Needless to say I am keeping the front light on nowadays.

First post on TacomaWorld. Purchased a '17 TRD Off Road last year. 6 days ago my wiring harness was chewed by a squirrel. Insurance, waiting, driving a '19 Taco loaner from the dealership. Today, wiring harness was chewed on the '19. Those pictures are of the exact spot that the squirrel was starting a nest on both trucks. I'm so pissed. They didn't just get the wires, they chewed an entire wiring connector on the '19 and electronic housing box clips on the '17.

Don't know about soy wiring...but that spot seems to be a magnet for those little bastards. I was going to be putting some bucks into my truck this year, this just ate up two deductibles. I'm pretty certain each nesting and electronics buffet took place within an 8 hour shift at my workplace. So angry.

aaaand...I now have a profile picture. Titled: my future.

If I could get away with it in the city limits I'd be a squirrel murdering fool. I'm gonna see about some kind of blocking piece that will fill that corner of the engine bay, sheet metal or similar. That and c4.

Pellet gun might be discrete enough. My neighbor likes to shoot them from his driveway for some weird reason, but he's a bit on the conservative side and old so I dont bring it up.

An old Daisy would be sufficient, but a nice pellet gun with a scope definitely makes quick work.

Still not sure if it's the best idea to be wandering around a mall area with any kind of "gun." However, a third harness gets munched and I'll plead insanity. My homemade squirrel coat will lend to my defense.

But seriously, I don't mean to high hack the thread with discussions on squirrel mass destruction. I'm definitely looking for solutions and will update with any results. Bitter apple seems to be a recommendation. Maybe mount an owl on my hood? :)

Get a small (squirrel size) live trap and place under the hood. Leave the hood on the lower setting to remind you to check BEFORE starting. Or something on the seat to remind you.

Then, when you got that critter in the trap. Take him in the garage and have your way with him/her...… I won't tell you what I would do, but it involves a vise and a flat screwdriver. :anonymous:

Might want to reset trap for a while. There may another one around. (likely is)

Also, spray something on those wires that is distasteful.
