Another SPACER lift thread (with better info this time)

Before you tell me to search, I have and Ive not found real discussion on what im looking for.

(in reference to front suspension only)

It seems clear to me that the very simple solution to a safe block lift for heavy offroad use is just to extend and/or get aftermarket bumpstops so that the shock will not max out on up travel but instead the bumpstop will take the force as it was designed.

Yet I never see anyone say that in any of the threads on spacer lifts...

AND if going over 3" lift (possibly less, im open to debate with actual info) in the front you have a good chance of maxing out the upper ball joint on down travel so you should think about a high angle ball joint or heim style joint found on aftermarket UCA's.

now I think the next question is how much do you need to extend the Bump for any given lift. if anyone has insight on that its much appreciated.

I get tired of people repeating the same (dont do it) mantra because its what everyone else says or they have seen pictures of broken shocks. its a simple mechanical system. If we have a problem lets look for a solution instead of pointing everyone towards a more expensive option.

Great question. I think if you measure the distance from the bump stop to its touch point with zero lift once you add the lift spacer you would want to get back to that point and yes you will always have the guys that just say absolutely not to use spacers and will always say I got Kings.
