Crazy! After reading all this, it made me realize I want to learn all these forms of comms. I used to have a CB in the truck, but took it out long ago. Still have it though. Just never had use for it.

I haven't used my CB while on the trail in years here in SoCal. Everyone has stepped up to using HAM/Race Radios for comms. Even the inexpensive Baofeng handheld radio that so many are now using is a billion times more capable then a modified CB. as far as I'm concerned CB's are out dated and no longer relevant.

I'm going to have to catch up on this after my run and work out and sleep, I do hope that everything gets worked out and a few beers are shared by all involved.

Just go get yourself a tech license from the FCC and get on the HAM bandwagon. I've been lagging on mine.

I knew HAM was a bit better than CB, but after seeing what's possible with it I'm gonna start studying and get a license.

The test itself is pretty dang easy not to take it. Find an official study guide and study it for a few hours a night, should only take a few nights to go through the entire guide. Find a free version practice test app (no sense in paying really) and take a few practice tests just for shits and giggles. Then go ace the test!
For more info on the HAM radios go and check out the badass thread

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
Okay, finally got back into range.
Filled the tank and tires, still gotta fill the belly (last eats was 0900 Monday).
Greg is on his way to Bishop to crash out in a motel, take OP to his truck tomorrow morning.
I'm headed back to my family, with three hours of sleep over three days and 200 miles of offroad over eight hours under my belt. And I got six hours to home.

When we left OP's truck, it was 99% ready to drive all the way home (that's right, not just to pavement, but home!). All he needs to do is bleed the one brake caliper.
Once he gets home, he's going to need to replace the CV, as I wasn't able to remove the full cup of gravel inside it. He'll also need to loosen and retorque everything (spindle nut was torqued with a breaker bar + HI-Lift handle) and threadlock the lower balljoint bolts.

I'm now out my one of my spare spindles. Without having read the whole thread, I'm going assume that will resolve itself.

Three things I learned how to drive today:
    1) Through soup.
    2) Into a 5-gallon bucket of thin drywall mud.
    3) A snow plow.
None of them I wanted to learn, and would really rather forget.

I left home with a red truck. I'm returning with some combination of brown and white...the only red I see is from those 50 miles of soup. The wash guys are gonna love me. Oh, and I should probably have rolled my windows up.

Greg said north pass is impassable. Covered in snow, they ended up turning around and going south.
