Another sunroof commits suicide

3m Crystalline, Pinnacle F1 (Ceramic) and Johnston InsulatIR (Ceramic) are the ones I was thinking of. I am going to do my sunroofs in all my cars with Johnson InsulatIR 70%

 

This happened to mine. Took to dealer and it was covered. Mine was not tinted just stock tint like yours. The guy said it looks like window got bound up in the tracks. (Ie trying to close it when it is already closed cause to much pressure on glass and if finally breaks) hopefully they take care of you. I am sure they will.

 

I never heard that either, got the darkest Limo Tint I could find and used it on my car and that was almost 20 years ago, have never had an issue in all this time.

 

I didn't want the sunroof but had to get it with the JBL, hopefully mine dosent kaboom

well this is interesting. i forgot i had a dash cam. there is an odd noise right before the bang. we cant figure out what it was. i cut it short because the f bombs started flying.

 

Hmm looks like the bobtail semi kicked something up...

 

are you saying that because there is a truck there, or are you seeing something fly.. i see nothing

 

Just a guess cause it was kicking up some snow, just my opinion

this is interesting because the sound in the video just before the bang sounds sorta like the sunroof motor.

Spot on.Window companys for homes dont want you to tint their windows for the same reason.

I was thinking the same. That noise sounds like a motor or actuator then SNAP!

 

You should definitely play that video for your dealer as well. As others have mentioned already it sounded like a motor went ON and then boom!

 

Definitely sounds like the Sunroof Motor kicked on right before you hear it break.
