I will start with both drivers are fine......other then some bumps and bruises.

17yr old trying to beat a light and never hit his breaks. He admitted to trying to make the light.
Um.... do you not see this big A$$ truck in your way?

All airbags were deployed, for the exception of the passenger front.
My Taco did keep me safe - but one of the scariest times I've ever been in.

I really hope they do total this truck... he hit me so hard, i was pushed into the car behind me.

If I had to guess, I would bet they total it. With multiple air bag deployment and possible frame deformation I can see it costing too much to repair. Good thing is it seems it is stock so that you may not need to worry about swapping of parts over should you lose the vehicle. I know you stated a big ass truck, but the taco is only a mid size...doesn't mean a full size would of faired better, but our trucks don't always register to others when they do shit like blowing through a light.

All vehicles are designed to crumble the front end, so a big ass truck would have had the same damage. It might have hurt the other driver a lot more though.

Damn, another one. Too bad OP, there's another thread on here from someone who just had an accident too and is hoping for total loss. His pics don't tell as much as yours do, but depending on who gets assessed first it may give you an idea of what to expect.

What about the front tow hitch that tweaked the frame?

Agreed man, very likely the core supports around the engine bay might need to be replaced with the fender well area being straightened out. At the tow hitch area is a "crumple area" on the frame that is designed to get compressed and absorb a front hit should something like this occur. I would def check to see if this got crunched up. If so, likely the best remedy for this is to go to a shop with a frame straightener and then cut and weld on the front piece of a frame from another taco as that deformation is likely not able to be fixed from the original frame.

It'll be close to totaled. It smashed everything back to the fire wall. Red fluids (pwr steering or trans cooler) on the asphalt. Hopefully the 17 yo had insurance and you'll get a new Truck. Which would you buy- 2017 or wait for 2018?

If they don't total it, you'll get a substantial Diminished Value payment from his insurance company. But you gotta file that claim separately...

Best of luck OP, I hope they do total it. Seems likely considering all the airbags deployed. They cost BIG money to replace. Nothing is worse than having a TON of repaired damage to your vehicle that used to be nice and working.

The more of these I see, the happier I am that I armored up and know I will (at least mostly) obliterate whatever is in front of me/hits me from behind.

DEFINITE frame deformation. Even if the numbers don't quite add up, I'm guessing the insurance is gonna buy it off you and "total" it themselves. You said you got pushed into the car behind you so taking into account rear damage I'm gonna say this thing is gone. Good luck with the new truck shopping!

I agree as well due to how elongated the damage went, but just said "possible" since I don't have any verifying pics. Well OP, looks like you get to pick another color if you want.
