Good to know you all walked away. Sucks about the truck, but it's replaceable.

Nov. 12 a driver ran a red light as i was traveling through an intersection. I T-Boned him on the passenger side. Here is the before and after. Grand total $15,890.00 in damage. All OME parts. As someone told me, it will buff out fine!!

All the lights I front are shot. The only ones working was the corner lights. I had no hazzard lights in the front. I wonder if it's worth me buying it back if it's totaled and parting it out.

I always have a fear that the brush guard will somehow interfere with air bag deployment.

The crash needs to be more severe (say 40 mph against a rigid barrier) for the airbag to deploy. Note in this video the frame crumple zones are activated:

Note: you can see the shockwave travel through the length of the truck, popping the fuel door open.

This ^. Based upon the vehicle speed and damage I am surprised the airbags werent deployed though...

I don't see much creasing in the front fender past the headlight cutout. The front wheels didn't shift. The mirrors didn't fold forward. I don't think the crash forces were that high.

The hood buckled severely because it's wafer-thin. When I take my truck through the car wash, I can see the hood flex under air pressure from the dryer.

Man. Where the bed and the cab meet (crash test) it looks like gumby.

I think if I were you Id be more concerned about potential liability issues. Though the typical brush guard isnt as rigid as say a shrockworks front bumper my understanding is that it directly interfaces with the frame and will likely result in higher accelerations developing in the event of a front impact collision. I could see some lawyer jumping all over this if other parties were injured.

By "other parties", do you mean the passengers in the other vehicle, or passengers in your vehicle?

Scenario 1 - Passengers in the other vehicle suing you: If you are at fault in the collision, then you are liable. The bull bar won't increase or decrease your liability.

Scenario 2 - Passengers in your vehicle suing you: This is where your lawyer cites contributory negligence, because they got into your car knowing there's unsafe equipment installed.

I think the more interesting scenario to me (that which caused me enough concern to rethink purchasing a ShrockWorks front bumper) is a scenario where you are not responsible for the accident, but in all likelihood (or it could be argued that) the modifications that you made to your vehicle caused the accident to be more severe. It is not beyond my imagination that you could be assigned X% liability due to this, particularly as in some places throughout the US the modification to your vehicle would actually be considered illegal.

Again the aforementioned more concerns me for a full plate steel bumper replacement than for say the typical set of rather flimsy brush guards. But the fact of the matter is, either way by installing said equipment you are intentionally defeating (or reducing the effectiveness of) engineering design that has been implemented to protect the occupants (not the vehicle), protect the occupants of any other vehicle involved in the accident, and additionally to protect pedestrians. It just doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

Thanks for being argumentative for the sake of being argumentative though.

i did not buy my tacoma for safety reasons, to be honest, but in the few short months on this site, seeing so many wrecked/damaged tacos, and so few (really none) injuries, i am really feeling that this truck was very well designed in keeping its occupants protected and safe. am i right?

Yeah they are pretty solid. I absolutely love my Tacoma! So far I haven't had any incidents in mine, but my dad had an 07 that he put about 225k miles on. Ran over a few deer, a street sign once, had a few vehicles play bumper cars with it at his work parking lot during the winter, held up just fine.
