Sorry guys, another of these polls....

    the size will be 285/70/17

I am looking at new tires.... I am looking for the ultimate do-it-all tire. They see lots of highway use, dirt roads, ice, snow, mud, rocks, you name it. Of course lower cost is desirable and durability is a must. I have extensively researched the options and come down to the BFG ATs, Duratracs, and the nitto terra grapplers.

I have run the BFGs on my other trucks and really liked them. They are a little cheaper than the Duratracs and seem to have a reputation for more durability. The E rated tires are also rated for severe snow and ice. Never really took them in the mud when I had then before.

Never run the duratracs but a lot of the guys up here run them. Say they are awesome on the snow. And they kicked my ass in the mud the other day (on my worn down Nitto Terra Grapplers....) They seem to be the best snow/ice AT out there from what I have heard. Also the rumor is the sidewall is pretty easy to puncture. They are a little more expensive than the BFGs

I got my truck with the Nittos on it. I like them a lot. Though they are sub-par in the mud. They were well used when I got them and don't know how the new ones would do. They are not technically snow and ice rates as far as I know. They have good sipping on them and have gotten me around ok for two winters. They are the cheapest option.

Any opinions/personal testaments to which brand is the best/whatever would be appreciated :)

None yet but in the works!
I have been thru a lot of tires but I found the BFGs Allterains to be the best all around tire for my money.
But this time I will be trying the Cooper AT3 only because they where a little cheaper but also are warranted for 65K.
Just got back from a trip out to the Grand Canyon and they did great on the muddy roads, on the wet hiway, and on the sand dunes. Only time will tell but so far so good.

Just wanted to add a tire not mentioned. Yokohama geolander AT/S

Put a set on my 3rd gen 4runner to try something different, and i love them. Excellent highway tire, works just fine in the dirt and on wet pavement, have not had them in the snow.

Preran 200 miles of last years baja 1000 race course with these tires, not a mark on them, handled silt, rock washes and everything we threw at them.

This tire reminds me of the old discontinued Good year GSA, looks more like a combo highway tire, yet was a excellent tire in the dirt.

These drive way nicer then the duratrac on the rode. And i have never been a fan of anything BFG.

Did you decide on the tires, yet? I am in the market for new tires now. Previously had BFG KO's love them, but not really owned another over sized tire to compare them. Most of my driving is Highway, and during the winter, frequent trips to Lake Tahoe, in California area. Also do not know which route to go. Duratracs are what many people are saying, but still leaning towards my BFGs... not sure what to do.

I've had all three and voted duratrac, but my two sets of nittos have been superb and quieter. Duratracs for off-road performance and badass looks.

This is the only reason I haven't bought a set.

FWIW, each of those tires would excel in something else better than the other, the NTGs would be good in sand, the TKOs are an all around good tire but the GYs are better in snow than any of those (non-biased, basing my info off what I have read so far).
