Being new to the second gen. I was initially going to run 255/85/16.
After reading countless threads it seems even with a 2" lift they might rub. It seems 265/75/16 might be a better option. Does anybody have any experience with 255 rubbing or not rubbing?

Cooper ST/MAXX 255/80-17’s on a 2014 here. Essentially the same size as a 255/85-16. I had to remove the OEM front mud flap and the chin flap.

I have a 2 1/2" lift in the front and run 255/85r16 KM3's. Only one place rubbed in the back -on the inner edge of the wheel molding at full deflection. 5 seconds with a sander and now there is nothing touching. Your mileage may vary, but this is one of the best tire choices I have ever made.

I'm running Eibach pro lift kit 2.5in front lift with 255/80/17 Toyo OC AT3. Only rub on the front mud flaps while reversing so took those off and no more rubbing. From all the research I did, I think as long as you're running oem specs wheels you should be good to go.

    Wheel specs matter big time.

Closer to stock specs (or stock wheels) the better the fit.

Reminds me of a retired coworker who was also a man of very few words. We use Motorola radios for communications in the field. If you called this guy up and asked a simple yes / no question, he would key-up the mic and shake his head. Everyone listened to his calls. They all knew if the mike was keyed in silence, he was shacking his head.

Yes. 2012 TRDOR, lifted 2" with TRD Pro 4Runner wheels and 255/80r17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Mini flaps and front mudflaps had to be removed, and trim a small section of the fender near the cab mount.
