I've looked at several of the topper leak with 3rd gen factory cover threads and I think the general solution is probably some sort of waterproof foam or other plug, but my issue seems different.

They took out the rubber plug near the front corners of the bed and said they put something else in there. Maybe they did. I don't recall the exact location of the plugs (which still had a channel for water get in) but this hole looks rather large. Anyone know what's going on there?

For the light wiring they seem to have just run a bare wire (well insulated but no conduit) which is exposed in the wheel well. Seems like an area where it will fail eventually. Is this normal or typical cutting corners? If a concern, what's the fix?

I would be real disappointed with that wiring... but I may not be the right guy to ask. I literally took apart the entire harness to add my popalock and re-taped the whole thing up into the bottom of the passenger seat. That job does look fairly poor quality though. I don't know about the gap in the topper.

I've got those gaps, maybe not as big. I think I'll just get out the silicon gun and see how that works

My top installer used black silicone on the gaps (looks good) and black plastic wire ‘slinky’ tubing to cover the lighing wires. You should cover yours to protect it.

I do not understand, why Toyota designed composite bed which will never rust with so many gaps and hols.

Thanks. I think I'm going to try and get the installer to do both problems right.

Maybe they figured that since it can't rust no need to keep out water...

Maybe they want to sell you two pieces of rubber to seal front rail for $28 a piece and they not 100% leak proof.

Tried the silicon, after last nights rain I still have leaks. Might have to take the bed rails apart to really get in there and silicon.
Anyone have any better ideas or know what will work?
