    Great info guys. I think I will give it a go. A transmission cooler will be installed too. If I feel that 2800 pounds is too much for the truck, maybe I will consider an upgrade.

    Check Ebay if you want a Toyota OEM cooler. There are a number of sellers that have them. I paid $99 for mine and the nice thing is they bolt up without modification to existing mounting points.

    I'm now towing a 21' Jayco Sylark with my 2.7 auto and it handles just fine. Pull the trailer along at 70mph on the interstate with the cruise on. You do lose a little on steep hills which is expected towing with anything. MPG was 14.5 to 16. Not sure why some say you can't tow with the 2.7.

    My gen 1 Tacoma with 3.4 V6 didn't pull my 2700 lb Casita travel trailer all that great. It sufficed but didn't like any sort of hill.
