I still loved how Frankenstein sounded with just the 14" magnaflow. Was awesome.

Piping to the rear is 10000x worth it though. Even dumping under the bed is obnoxious in the cab.

Okay, weird distraction exhaust project is wrapping up now, just have to slap a couple more hangers on. But it is a nice and easy three piece system to put on and remove now with v-bands. Downpipe, mid-pipe with muffler, then rear pipe with resonator. I kinda feel like we did too nice of a job for what is supposed to be temporary haha. But all of the rasp is gone now, it sounds pretty different can't say I've heard another exactly like it before. Also it is quiet in the cab and I'm all about that.

Kind of got screwed by the auto gain on the microphone for the interior shot because it adjusted because of how quiet it is. But one indication that it's quiet is how you can hear the motors mechanical sound more than the exhaust now.

I was thinking about it the other day and I'm pretty sure I have the 14" under mine now, made that change when I routed it out the rear. It is way better than the 18" that just had a turn-down under the bed. With two cats I have never had any drone and find the outside and I side noise a good balance. To your point routing it out the back is key. Same with the recent muffler delete on my diesel, while it is bassy in some spots, the inside volume is acceptable mostly because it dumps 40 feet away

I like the sound. Quite a bit quieter. Is that 3" all the way back now?

That has the potential to change power levels too because of less restriction doesn't it? Be interesting to see what effect it has in that area.

It was 3" before too, just hidden under the bed, I don't know if my exhaust was ever a choke point (highly doubt it) if it was then power will have gone down now a little because extra length and bends, but if it wasn't (keeping in mind my daily tune is around 380ish HP) then nothing should have changed.

Yeah you basically tried to copy franks setup. Never did sound the same. Probably because your truck has two cats and Frank has one and different header styles too.

But yes. Dumped exhaust = bad time. Unless it's the very quiet stock muffler haha

Turbo's still plenty loud just on the intake side now which is good enough. Could never hear the exhaust side of it in the cab anyway, just heard drone mostly and rasp at the very top end. I would think the guy that wears ear plugs to take a dump would appreciate a quieter exhaust.

Do the Toyotas do that? They make this strange sound that's annoying and hard to describe. Feel like when skynet is active it will be the sound you hear when the machines are near and its time to take cover lol

Yeah I think it's a mandate for newer electric cars they have to make some sort of noise so pedestrians can easily notice them when they're not fast enough to be making tire noise

Ah, makes sense, I thought it was a charging or electric motor noise but that didn't make sense to me

I mean quiet in the cab sure. But I wanna let er rip with the windows down! And I was always surprised how quiet the turbo noises are on your truck. Idk why. Want the MKIII supra whistle after you slap 3'' cat back exhaust on it.

You should hear it now in the cab when it comes up to 15psi. It has a pretty sharp change in tone around 10 psi. But it's not a straight pipe so you don't hear like the little exhaust whistle at idle and low throttle, the only time I've ever heard that on cars is when they don't have a muffler at all like my 135i. That's usually also more pronounced when your turbo is too small.
