    Hi,

FYI - I have googled and searched the threads on wheels and tires with a lift but need a little clarification on fitment and rubbing

Im putting on a 3" OME lift with dakar leaf springs in back I want to fit one of the following combination:

    1. 15 x 8 Method double standards with 3.5 backspacing and 33x12.5 bfg mud terrains
    2. 15 x 8 wheelers steel wheels with 4 or 4.5 backspacing and 33 x 12.5 bfg mud terrains
    Will both fit?

Or what other caliper clearing 15 x 8 rim will fit with 33 x 12.5 tires, what backspacing do I need? Any suggested combinations? Thanks and sorry to bug everyone with another mundane question.

Yes both options will work just fine. You will probably still need to do some trimming on the pinch welds and plastic in the front fenders.

    604YOTA,

Thanks for the reply, do you think the 15" Method Double Standards will clear the front calipers? I have a 2001 tacoma 4x4

In my opinion I would go with the wheelers steel rims if you plan to do any kind of offroading..my truck came with moot metals hate them.going to switch to steelies when I get a chance

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
You may want to go to a tire shop and see if you can try the methods on before you buy them. 15's fit but some need a .25" spacer to clear the caliper. If you were to get 15" Toyota wheels then you shouldn't have an issue but aftermarket wheels are usually the ones that the caliper. It has to do with the hub mount, the Toyota ones protrude more so they wont rub the calipers and the aftermarket ones don't protrude enough, hence the .25" spacer needed. If you want to take the safe route get the wheelers wheels because they make those wheels to fit 1st gens and clear the calipers.

As for the tire rubbing, you may have a little rubbage on the frame at full lock. Also, you can always hammer down the pinch weld if the tires rubs on it. Since your wanting the 12.5" wide tires your gonna have to trim more than if you were to go with a 10.5" tire.
