Getting new wheels and tires finally.
I'm on a budget and have narrowed it down to a few styles from Discount tire.
Starting to think black might be a little played out but they do look sweet on Tacomas.
For tires I'm going with 265 75 16 Hankook Dynapros or Mickey Thompson Baja stx.

Black wheels has become a lil "played out" but its because they are so bad ass, lol. I just bought a set of SCS F5's in matte black. They are friggin awesome i think. Was a little worried the matte was gunna be too matte if ya know what i mean, like a flat ceiling paint type texture, a chalky sorta feel. I was worried the finish wad gunna be like that. Not at all they are nice and smooth and have a lil shine to em, perfect! Best of all they are very reasonably priced too, cant hardly beat em! They are a vendor on here and have a couple three different designs but none like the style youve got lined out so you might not be interested. They have a blemished wheels thread too, wheels with super slight blemishes like small paint issues or casting flaws. Have some really killer deals on there from time to time as well.

For your truck I would go black wheels and blackout your bumpers. I really don't like the mix of black and chrome that for some reason Toyota went with on these trucks. Pick one and go with it. You could go with chrome/polished wheels and keep bumpers as is if you like it, but that wouldn't be my choice.

I think ithr whel would look good. Personally id go with the machined one because you have a darker vehicle, so black wheels ont stand out as much as the machined will. Thats just my personal opinion.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I ended up going with 265 75 16 Mickey Thompsons and the Ranger wheels in a 16x8 with a plus 10mm offset.
Hell of a deal too! $800.00 out the door after rebates at discount tire.

very nice look and price

I wish there was an easy way to put 15's on these things and go back to using what I call "normal" tires that you buy for $70 each like these: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Goodyear-...235-75R15-105S-Free-Shipping-to-Store/4404150

seams like anything above 15" size they add an extra $100 to the price or its at least dounble the price of the same tires in 15" http://www.walmart.com/ip/Goodyear-Wrangler-SR-A-Tire-P235-75R16/11983354

Thanks. I will for sure, I kind of happened across them. Everything I've read about them is positive. Look a lot more tame than my duratracs but they sure are quiet and smooth down the road.

It looks really good! I picked up a set of American Racing wheels from Amazon and I'm heading to Discount for a set of Cooper 31X10.50's on Thursday. Hoping to post pictures of the after.

they do "show" a 15" option for Tacoma but im told that is only with the 5 lug versions

the 15" rims wont clear the calipers, I have the 16" steel rims and they barely clear those

I wanted to badly, it cost me $870 for a set of 4 265/70/16 tires for it

Yeah those younger yotas might only be able to run 16's which does suck for cost purposes. I have 3 2000's 2 tacos and a runner, they all run 15's.

Have still yet to figure out why a tire with less material/rubber(16") costs way more than one with more rubber(15")??

Looks good, its your truck in the end, so if you're happy with it, that's all that matters. And very good price.

I'm off my rocker! After changing the oil I noticed my inside sidewall had made contact with the UCA.
I contacted discount tire and they said they'll swap em out. So I figured what the hell I'm going for black wheels, they had em in stock.
For those wondering my new wheels are a -6mm offset as opposed to the +10 that were on there before.20160330_183618.jpg
Totally changed the look, I like it.

Well thats what i thought....that's why i was wondering why ole @keakar thought he was stuck running 16's.
I had always thought 15's would fit on all tacos. Even the younger models that came standard with 16's. But with keakars statements i thought maybe those models had bigger calipers??.....

We need this cleared up cause it would be nice to know fur certain if 15's fit all 1st gens. I really feel like they do cause im sure the guys sportin '01-'04's use 15's when wanted. And i dont know this but im guessing those are the years keakar was referring to that came standard with 16's. Obviously he runs an '04 but im assuming the 3rd gen 1st gens came with 16's??

I thought I read somewhere (probably here) that models with optional traction control VSC had bigger rotors and caliper.
Hopefully someone will clear this up! Maybe I should run down to discount and ask them to swap me for 15's:goingcrazy: lol....

Seems the vsc ones are indeed 25mm bigger. But if no vsc part numbers for caliper and rotor seem to be same for all years though.
