    Yeah, it isn’t any fun.
Morning should see an influx of firefighting aircraft.

Winds appear to be headed south, hopefully threat will be reducing more or less continuously throughout the night. At least up there. I threw this gif together from the HRRR 10m gust potential, hourly starting now into the morning:

Looks like it's about to get wacky down here though.

We were evacuated a few years ago, I was working on my truck when smoke and embers started blowing over the hill. Went from zero to scary real quick, but definitely the shittiest part was feeling like we had no information, just fear and confusion. Wife's phone went off, mine didn't.

    Hang in there.

Not much sleep. Hooked up the teardrop, got stuff together but stayed put.

Lots of smoke east of BP but clear to the north - couple trucks are at Bartell and the canal so it has crossed the 168 and continuing south.

Radio chatter said air is on the way.

BTW I never thought about it but they can't use fire retardant b/c of the water contaminants

Air is lining up - going to attack it to stop spread west thru Big Pine and prevent it from jumping 395

With the wind dying down and plenty of mutual aid strike teams arriving they should knock this down fairly fast.

The wind was ripping yesterday. This is from my home in Bishop taken about 1 PM. It was still close to the airport at that time. It ran far and fast. Luckily, the head stayed narrow since it was being driven by the winds.

Word is that aircraft are coming in from as far away as Texas.
Apparently this is the only game in town so fire authorities are gonna gang up on it.

I think the fire stayed mostly in the think vegetation on the river.

The name of the trailer is sadly ironic.

Yep. It did the same thing the Pleasant fire did. Followed the lowest point of the drainage. The winds actually helped keep both of them fairly narrow.

The southerly winds are pushing the smoke through the valley past Lone Pine and into the Cosos.

Wonder why they're grounded. Other than the smoke it is a clear day out there.
