Plus side is it's going to make fishing and duck hunting that section a whole lot easier........

Whelp, that confirms it... a number of my fishing lures have been burned in this fire:

    Airport-Fire-posted-a-1127-a.m.-PT-Feb.-17-2022-by-@captain2500agl.jpg

That stuff along the banks was seriously thick! With "was" having less ambiguous meaning now.

Glad conditions kept it from blowing into the developed areas, hope they get it stomped out for y'all sometime soon.

Earlier this year a thousand homes burned in an hour, just a few blocks from where I used to live. Living there, I would have never guessed those neighborhoods were at risk. But it turns out nothing can stop fire in dry 100+ MPH gusting wind. I think fireproof construction is going to start becoming a bigger thing soon.

This might be a dumb question, but you just become a cat?

The attitude is based on 6-8 fires in and around Big Pine over the last dozen years or so…

I think a couple of them started on the Native Reservation and I’m not sure what goes on out there…

Up here in oregon almost all wild fires are caused by people.

We’re gonna get burned out of here one way or another.

    I’m home now.
There were prolly 12-15 engines and 20-30 support vehicles up there. And two airplanes on site.

    Hopefully they can control it…

    Are they? Not terrible here.
They seemed to be tapering off in Indy.

Damn another one and it's only May. I just saw the pics on the Inyo Sheriff FB page, not good. Hopefully they can get containment quickly. You guys be safe.

First place I ever camped in Owens Valley was Grey's Meadow back in 99. Fell in love with the place. Hope they get this squashed soon.

Looks like firefighters knocked it down last night, thankfully.

Grey’s Meadow is a neat little spot! Not too many years ago I looked into buying a cabin in Seven Pines but I was not confident that living off-grid is for me.

I'm glad they got it knocked down so fast. I just read that they caught the bastard that set it.
