just a couple of things tbh
always love mt vehicles and will always have some sort of vehicle that shifts manually. sadly couldnt get one for my tacoma when i came back to toyota after owning a ranger for a short time... still kinda want a mt tacoma but im happy with my little truck now.

just take your time op with learning and you will soon love the truck even if its a 4th gen lol

If you're even considering a MT I say go for it!

I love love love my 3rd gen manual. It makes driving so much more fun and engaging than an auto. I almost bought an auto but am REELLY glad I held out for the manual. I believe the MT also comes with shorter gears so you can accelerate faster away from a stop. And after awhile, you'll become a pro of the one handed shift. You know, because you got a coke or spicy chicken sandwich in your other hand. Also, while learning, avoid riding the clutch or you'll wear out the throw-out bearing pretty quickly. Whenever you can not have the clutch engaged, that's a good thing.

Shouldn't be any grinding between 1st and 2nd unless you try to shift too fast. What helped me with the manual learning curve, is to breathe. Take your time to shift correctly. Once you get it down, you'll have a skill that's quickly going the way of the dodo.

Enjoy the new truck and welcome to the club!

The 4th gen auto has a "lock-out" function where the trani won't shift gears unless you do. Kind of like a 2 pedal manual, I guess.

You won't have to worry about burning up your clutch, much, if you do some basic things. First, look at the floor where the "3" pedals are. There's a plastic block to the left of the 3 pedals. If you're not in the process of shifting keep your left foot on that block. That'll take care of most of it. The rest will take care of themselves.
Other than that, enjoy your new truck!

Just drove it home! Used iMT as I was not super confident. Still getting used to the clutch feel.

I pointed out the missing JBL speaker which the salesman told me is not included or didn't come with it (?) and the driver's seat is creaky and crunchy which is a major piss off.

Well, nothing is perfect or seamless these days and I will need to be contact the manager so it is what it is I guess.

Hoping I can get both issues fixed without hassle.

Edit: Correction! The removable speaker was under the passenger rear seat, wrapped in bubble wrap and taped/basically new.

So we are good on the speaker but this crunchy driver's seat looks like a warranty claim.

It continually amazes me how much they talk out their ass. At least he could look at the vehicle sticker or something, jeeze.

Not sure what is wrong with the seat, I've sat in several and they were all great.

Yeah me either. I'm going to go play around and see if I can diagnose it. Might take a video.

Basically if I lean back into it, it creaks and crunches like an old office chair.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
The reverse is geared much better (not as tall) on the 4th gen Tacomas.

But for us 3rd gen folks, I'll just plan to install the 2LO mod. I remember slipping the clutch a lot whenever I'm backing up a trailer.

Once upon a time, AT was a premium item. I've regretted no MT since 2009. Now 50, I simply lament lack of MTs.

Agree, reverse is actually a pleasure (at least on flat ground). Well at least with iMT on it's super smooth for me but it's definitely not lightning fast like the 3rd gen apparently is.
