threaten to move if he doesn't come in and fix the ant problem. If your lease is long, threaten to put the rent in escrow with the local housing authority.

That gets any landlord moving quick.

Bed lined the rear bumper caps, LED lights in the interior, rear bed LEDs, red letter glove box inserts, center console coin box, set of Wildpeaks from my 2014 Tacoma that I traded in and removed the factory running boards.
heres a no shitter. seal up the cracks with caulking and wash all surfaces with windex. the windex kills off the scent trail the ants follow and shortly after that your ant problem should be gone. but continue to spray the outside of your place. the exterminator told me this and it worked every year those little bastards came around. happy ant killing....

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
If the guy down stairs is causing the problem there is nothing you can do other than to replace him. If he is a slob, they will keep coming back to him.

We fixed the problem by paying off the landlord out of our lease and bought a house :D

Unfortunately, the way most landlord-tenant laws are written that is usually the only recourse. Enjoy your new home.

Use aluminum tape, caulk and foam to seal around any pipes and wires coming from the outside to help keep you new home bug and mouse free. Remember that a mouse can get through a quarter inch hole and a "sugar" ant through a pinhole.

We lived in our house for 12 years without any ants. Just last year, I had a bunch of them coming onto the counter one day and sporadic black ants upstairs. We paid an exterminator to come and do a 'maintenance' spraying (and inspection) of the inside & outside of the house. I haven't seen any ants at all since he's sprayed. Best $300 we've spent...and will have them come back year after year.

It just took us that long to realize the importance of 'regular pest maintenance'
