Antenna clipping garage door issue solved for $14

So everytime I pulled in or out of my garage , my antenna would catch the garage door. After installing the 5100s it got hung up even more.


So ordered this little 14$ antenna from ebay. Very happy for the cost , looks better to IMO.

i did the swap and would never go back to a shorty, I lost ALOT of range, it works great in the city but outside it sucks especially in canada where we are limited to 1/10 the output the american FM stations are allowed

 

hmm for 14 bucks i might give it a try. if worst comes to worst i just screw my stock one back on

honestly with pandora and a iphone I rarely use the radio .
I did a check to see if it still worked in my driveway and it did, but I didnt test it out on the road yet . It doesnt really matter to me .

I'm not sure where the thread is, thought I saved a link to it. But a member on here referred this. I think he was from the site if I remember correctly. Which is why I thought I saved the link, but can't find it now.

 

Any shorty one I've used has had horrendous radio reception. I too don't really listen to FM/AM so it's a moot point. But for those that do and you listen to anything but a local station you'll probably be disappointed.

That being said, for looks this seems like a good deal for 14 bucks.

I just shortened up the stocker.
Unscrew it, pull the roundy off the end, cut to desired length, taper the end of the cut to fit back into the roundy thing, add some super glue to secure it.
Touch up with some black paint and thats it.

 

Hows the signal now?

 

I'm running the Antennax and it works quite well.
I generally rely on satellite on road trips because it's such a PITA to locate local stations, but I've had no problems with LosAngeles stations leaving town.

 

yes, we dont recommend anything shorter than 13 inches as you tend to lose a lot of reception
