I'm thinking about installing an antenna on the bed of my 2016 Tacoma. My question is can I run the wire through one of the two vents in the rear of the cab, or should I try to find a grommet somewhere? If I go with the grommet, which one and where is it located. Any help would be appreciated.

Run it along top of the frame under the truck and into the engine compartment then through firewall in the engine bay.

There should be a grommet under the back seat that will allow you to run the wire out of the cab without drilling.

I would run it through an existing grommet rather than through a vent hole. On my 1st gen I ran my CB antenna cable through a grommet under my driver seat. No reason to go all the way to the engine bay & back through the firewall unless you have excess length that you want to take up. My excess cable length is under my driver seat under the carpet.

I’m too lazy to put my own connector on my Larsen NMO mag mount coax, so it was too big to push through the floor grommets. I just ran it out the back slider and put weatherstripping on it to keep the coax from getting crushed by the slider. Works good and no water comes in. I do have a shell, so my cheapo solution doesn’t show.
