    I bought one from stubbyantenna.com that did the same thing. I complained to them stating the fit was not acceptable and they wouldn't take it back. I have since given up on finding a suitable shorty.

    To make it look flush you can buy a black plastic "O" ring (probably in the plumbing dept of your hardware store--they come in a variety of sizes) set it on the threads and then screw it in the base...It will look like a perfect fit....A lot of hand held radios have the same problem with aftermarket antennas and this is a common fix...Or as someone said just cut a couple threads off

    It actually is the lack of threads at the top. A black nylon washer would work...but a cracker-jack setup will bug me to no end because I am an anal bastard. :p

    Ok. Well here is what you guys have to do. You don't cut a couple of the threads off. There's plenty of room for it to go down all the way. But the thing is, is that the little spacer type thing on the the little adapter needs to be grinded down. All I did was take the adapter off your antenna grind down that little spacer so then nothing is larger than the threads, then just screw it into your antenna as much as you can and then screw your antenna onto your truck and wa-law. It sits nice and smooth on there with no gap. If thats not clear or anything just let me know.

    It's ridiculous that you even have to go to all this hassle....they sell it for our Tacomas....I agree that it should sit right....seeing it everyday not sitting flush would drive me up a wall too!

    just a little update for those of you concerned abotu how much it bends. virginia weather blows right now...but becasue if it, i noticed something abotu the antenna. it was 50 degrees today and the antenna barely bent at highway speeds. the other day though it was over 90 degrees and at highway speeds the antenna bent a good amount. BUT...in both cases, when i stopped, the antenna returned to a completely virticle/unbent position. hope this helps :)

    Well, I bought one of the 13" FA-series antennas as suggested by bb609 and ya know what, it works better than the AntennaX as far as reception goes and it doesn't bend on the highway. It also mounts flush. Good call man!

    Mine sticks up a tad but I didn't force it at all. I didn't really notice it until seeing it in the pic. If it bothers anyone, just add a rubber o-ring.

    Order two last Thursday, shipped free on Friday and got them today. I really like it! I always use xm radio and cd player for my hearing aids. OEM antenna dont give me good sound and some too static. With this new antenna, I can hear better and static really little. Someone broke my antenna at the parking lots last week. Thanks to other members help me on other thread. Love it!
